CHICAGO — "The Oprah Winfrey Show" is becoming bilingual.

Chicago-based Harpo Productions says the show is being made available in Spanish through Secondary Audio Programming and closed captioning.

The Spanish-language offerings launched Monday in the country's six largest Hispanic TV markets, including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Houston and Dallas. More cities are expected to be added this season.

"The Oprah Winfrey Show" is now in its 22nd season. It's syndicated to 214 domestic stations and 139 countries.

Don't any of you Oprah fans remember how she trashed some woman on her show for not supporting the evidence that took us in to war? Oprah's as bad as the Bush admin.

She didn't trash her. She told her she had a right to her opinion & then cut to commercial. I admit Oprah seemed a bit clueless when she was first learning about the issues, but by Nov 2002 she started airing anti-war shows (this is documented in Michael Moore's book) and the day after Colin Powell's UN speech that the rest of the media was praising, Oprah was virtually the only major media to air a massive two day anti-war show in which she gave a forum to anti-war views worldwide:

And then just 48 hours before the war began, she brought Michael Moore on to protest it. He was so impressed he begged her to run for president. On the whole Oprah performed a lot better than most of the media.

Don't you remember the two day anti-war show she did the day after Colin Powell's critical UN speech:

And she never trashed the lady, she just told her she had a right to her opinion & cut to commercial.

she's picking for straws now that her ratings are slipping. When is she going to retire? I'm tired of the this woman. Step aside so someone can have the spotlight.

Everyone's rating are slipping but Oprah remains #1 for now a QUARTER CENTURY. She's the most talented person in the history of show business, and she always will be. If someone else wants the spotlight let them dethrone her in free market competition. If the only way for someone else to get the spotlight is for Oprah to retire, then they're not worthy of the spotlight.

I'd watch her in any language. She's sensational.

That would be tri-lingual. It's also broadcast in stupid.

Love her or hate her, Oprah's a force for good.

In a sea of pseudo-talk tabloid trash format Spanish language programs on Telemundo and Univision, Oprah should be a breath of fresh air. Celeb-y fluff or pull at the heartstrings Lifetime tv type stories aside, the show's themes are often current (caught an episode detailing the subprime crisis), informative and touches on a variety of topics not often discussed on Spanish TV.

Hopefully the book club will be "en Espanol" too.

I always knew Oprah and Gail were getting it on, wait...OH! You mean bilingual, never mind.

It must be nice to be so universally love by almost everyone across the whole world, except for a few misanthropic kooks.

More material for Kathy Griffin.
