Chuck Todd had nothing but bad news for John McCain on "Morning Joe" today. "Lets get realistic," he said, before adding Colorado, Virginia, and Florida to Barack Obama's column. Other battleground states Todd rated as "pure tossups," but then he added, "So what? If Obama is up in these three, and you're hearing very negative comments come out of the McCain campaign about Colorado, Virginia ... and then there's Florida, which has really slipped away from McCain."

"There is no ground game," Joe Scarborough responded. Todd agreed, adding that Democrats were already doing better in early voting, based on ballot requests. "The ground game, it is just absent from the McCain campaign ... At this point, the only state that I feel good about for McCain is Ohio." He posited that McCain could win that state but lose the election, which would be "very frustrating to Republicans."

Read more about McCain's failures in Florida here, and about the campaign's pessimistic outlook on Colorado here.

The only thing McCain has is talking about Obama's tax cuts. McCain say's that 40% of americans don't pay taxes. The only two groups that don't pay taxes are americans living below the poverty level and the rich that have so many tax loop holes that they don't have to pay taxes. Theres a lot of americans that earn more than $250,000 that want to pay their share of taxes but can't because of the tax cuts and a lot that don't want to pay their share of taxes also. The only one that will get a tax credit are the ones that need it the most.

Todd suggests McCain could take Ohio and he may be right. But I think it is very difficult for anyone make a prediction about Ohio before election day. The reason I say this is that with so many new voters registered this year (almost a million) the makeup of potential Ohio voters has changed substantially. It is younger and less white than it has ever been. As a result, the sampling models that pollsters use may not apply anymore if the turnout percentage among those new Ohio voters is high.

And McCain says he can win a war? He doesn't even have the ground strategy to win an election. It is all gimmicks, lies and smears... this is how he and palin would run our country and deal with other countries, not a good idea.

STRAIGHT PARTY VOTING TRAP

Oct 8, a firm called Automated Election Services was found to have miscoded the system in heavily Democratic Santa Fe County, NM, so that straight party voters would not have their presidential votes counted. If your state allows one pull for straight party voting, and mine does (PA), you may lose your presidential vote. In 2004 Alabama straight party votes were caught going Republican. In Wisconsin, straight party votes disappeared altogether. Both DRE and optical scan machine s are vulnerable.
Never choose the straight party vote option because it alerts the computer to your party preference and allows software code to trigger whatever function the programmer has designed.

Do it the old fashioned way. Punch in presidential choice first, then proceed down the list manually.

This is important. Please pass on info to all you can. Thanks.

In almost all cases, this is not true. Warning people to avoid straight party voting is a Republican scheme to steer people away from voting for down-ballot Democratic candidates.

While there have been very isolated cases where electronic voting machines have miscounted straight party votes, by telling people not to vote straight party, we lose more than we gain.

I'm on our county's Democratic Executive Committee (in Pennsylvania) and we have verified that straight party votes will be counted correctly.

Do not discourage straight party voting unless you know that there is a specific problem in your area. If you tell people not to vote straight Democratic, you are working for Republicans.

VOTE STRAIGHT DEMOCRATIC!

By telling people to not vote straight Democratic, you are falling into a Republican trap.

While there are very isolated cases where there have been problems with electronic voting machines, mainly in Texas, almost every other place, it is safe to vote the straight party ticket.

I have checked, and here in Pennsylvania, it is perfectly OK to vote straight Democratic.

Republicans are distributing warning emails about this, hoping to deny votes to down-ballot Democratic candidates for the House, Senate and state races. Do not fall for this.

VOTE STRAIGHT DEMOCRATIC. IT IS SAFE AND WILL HELP ELECT DEMOCRATS WHO SUPPORT OBAMA.

McCain doesn't need a ground game for the election because he knows how to catch Osama Bin Ladin. It's his little secret.

NIXON had a secret plan to end the Vietnam War before the election. The secret was to bomb the hell out of Cambodia and Laos.

Mc/Palin's only ground game is race baiting, religious intolerance, li es and more ... they have no exit plans for Iraq or for america's progression from this economic crisis!

Divide & conquer is their ground game ... period !

I tend to agree with you...I think that Obama will likely lose Ohio and Florida. However....you just never know.

Of the four polls done in Ohio over the past week or so, Obama is +9 and +5. McCain is +2 and +1.

Given the huge number of new voters registered, all of the sampling models for OH could be wrong. If they are then they understate Obama's advantage.
