NY Times:

A Sunday night episode of the Fox animated series "Family Guy" stirred up trouble by suggesting rather directly that Nazi officers would have supported the McCain-Palin ticket. And it was another arm of the News Corp. conglomerate, Fox News Channel, that first reported on the episode.

Fox (the broadcast network) aired the episode in which Stewie, the obnoxious baby character at the center of the series, and Brian, a talking dog, traveled back in time to Poland during the 1939 German invasion. The characters ambush Nazi soldiers in an alley and steal their uniforms so they can travel without drawing attention. Putting on an overcoat, Stewie notices a McCain-Palin campaign button affixed to the lapel. "Huh, that's weird," Stewie remarks.

"Family Guy" has never been known for its taste level. One recent episode depicted Jesus binge drinking, and the hit show once got in trouble with the Federal Communications Commission for showing a partially nude cartoon character. The series' creator, Seth MacFarlane, is a prominent supporter of Barack Obama's presidential bid. So fans of the program seemed to take the scene in stride: by mid-day Monday, the vast majority of blog mentions of the episode were favorable.

I loved that little bit. Including the part about America not joining in because there's no oil involved! So true...so true.

Fox News shouldn't be worried about political pins. What should disturb them is that the Fox cartoon characters are more politically informative than their News stars.

Stewie in jack boots is one thing. Lois in Obama Pajamas is an entirely different matter. If only. http://www.ojamas.us.

See the comment from Ironfox. Ditto. I have also heard very serious talking about how Sarah Palin shouldn't have appeared on SNL. I am voting Obama/Biden, but really people - lighten up. God know's we could all use a little levity in our lives.

Brian the dog is superb. If I weren't already married I'd propose to him.

Hitler was a Christian. He burned the Reichstag and blamed it on his enemies, in order to get power. He had a Patriot Act and he talked a lot about the security of "the Homeland". He outlawed abortion, conducted a death war against homosexuals, and favored corporal punishment and the teaching of Christianity in schools. He practiced ethnic cleansing of Jews, whom he considered inferior to Aryan Christians, and he used Christianity to justify it. Nazis had religious sayings ("Gott Mit Uns") on military items. Hitler formed the Protestant Reich Church in 1933.

People should be able to see the similarities between that scenario and what is happening now in our country. The Republican Party has become fascist. Christianity, as practiced by people like Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, John Hagee, James Dobson, and Sarah Palin, is fascist. No insult or name calling is intended, but it is important for the preservation of our democracy to recognize these facts. People are accustomed to giving a free pass to someone who says he is a Christian, assuming that the person speaking is therefore a "good person" and that thinking a Christian could also be a fascist is wrong.

We need to stop thinking that way because if you look at the facts about the Nazis and then look at what is happening in our own country now, we are on the verge on enacting the same story--- same story, same religion, different characters.

Speaking of RightReverend Dobson:

According to Bloomberg.com news, evangelical conservative leader James Dobson was “trying to engineer a win for Michele Bachmann” in the 2006 campaign.

This is nonsense, Family Guy is one of the most marvelously subversive shows on TV. They manage to offend everone equally with equal hilarity. Keep it up Seth.

FOX never called out anything of that sort being done to Senator Obama.

Fox is no longer of use and they know it - so they continue to put on this "drama' every day, thinking most of us care. WE DON'T !!!

OBAMA-BIDEN

The folks at Fox News are just mad Rupert's not handing them a $100 million deal the way he did Seth McFarlane.
