Well Palin's hacked Wexler tests show significant cognitive challenges - definitely learning disabilities - as her "academic" record glaringly shows as well. She's been fine with being a Bimbo-for-Hire - but "We the People" can send her back to Alaska, where the Alaskan People will have the chance to retire her as well. Why should we all reject Palin's worldwide megalomanical theocratic demagoguery? I think Homer Simpson said it best: "DOH!"

It was fun watching Chris Matthews chew Buchanan out for his (lame) defense of Palin. Sorry folks, you just can't defend stupid.

She is the gift that keeps on giving! Wow. I don't even know what to do with this. How sad and pathetic that this could be running our country.

The VP candidacy of Sarah Palin has become as big a farce as the current state of the Republican party, which doesn't know if it's going or coming. They picked the Snow Bunny from the North, spent 150K to wrap her up and present her to America, and the people have rejected her resoundly. McCain surrogates will tell you she still packs the rallies, yes, with the brain cramped followers of the base. Any intelligent Conservative will tell you this woman scares them to death, but the rest still try to sell us what amounts a bootleg set of goods. Swing voters, and Independants have run from this ticket in droves, and rightfully so as this woman couldn't be a White House Press Secretary much less VP or President. The seven week evolution of Sarah Palin now has her with the highest negatives of any VP candidate in almost 30 years(Dan Quayle is somewhere enjoying a glass of Pinot), with over 50% of the electorate saying she isn't qualified to be President, and she is now seen as a bigger drag on the McCain ticket than even George Bush. Now how much of a f**k up do you have to be, in only seven weeks to be seen as more of a negative than King Ineptitude himself? This painful, Alice in Wonderland, nightmare will be over in less than 2 weeks, and she can go back to shooting wolves from a plane.

Only 50% think Palin is not qualified, shouldn't it be 100%?

Well, don't forget that 25% of the folks that believes she's qualified are probably the ones that think Bush is still doing a great job.

So if the VP isn't in charge of the Senate, then who is?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:35 PM on 10/22/2008

you're joking, right?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:48 PM on 10/22/2008

The Senate has things like the Speaker, the Party Leaders, and the Party Whips. The Speaker is essentially in charge of the Senate. I know that Wikipedia says that the US VP is but that is not correct. The VP ONLY comes in when the house is tied and then the VP breaks the tie which means that the VP is rarely ever involved with Senate bills and such.

The VPs only real job is to fill in for the President should such a need rise and to vote on Senate items in case of a tie. Thats it, that is the VP job description.

The speaker is in the House of Representatives, the Senate has a majority leader. Harry Reid is in charge of the Senate, Nancy Pelosi is in charge of the House.

So Wikipedia is wrong and you are right? Is the Constitution of the United States also wrong? Article I section 3.4 of the Constitution states; "The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided." (S)he has no vote except to break a tie but (s)he still is President of the Senate. The President pro tempore, pro tempore is latin for "for the time being", presides over the Senate in the Vice President's ABSENCE. The fact that the Vice President presided over the Senate for the 172 years prior to 1961.

The Senate Majority Leader. That person sets the agenda, and therefore controls what bills reach the floor and when.

oh.. and the current speaker is Nancy Pelosi and that is why you see her in the news so much. She is a Democrat which is why you hear her name bantered about by Republicans so much.

Nancy Pelosi leads the House of Representatives, Harry Reid is the Senate Majority Leader. Both the House and the Senate elect their own leaders after the elections, and both parties have heads. There are Minority leaders in both houses to represent the opposition party.

Not only does she get the answer wrong, but she has to stall for ten seconds before giving one.

Wow, she's *crazy*! She really seems to believe that she would be *in charge* of the Senate as VP. I didn't think she could surprise me any more.

Way to channel the best of Tim Russert Keith. It is so smart to put those Palin interviews together to show that it wasn't a one time event - with the excuse that she was talking to a 3rd grader.

Why do the republicans excuse Palin's error as being OK because she was addressing the question of a third grader.

Shouldn't Palin and the republicans teach facts not some delusional interpretation of a meglomaniac.

It was horrifying watching Mika Brzezinski rationalize Palin's error since Palin was speaking in a simple manner because Palin was addressing a child. This was the most idiotic rational one could use.
This was the 4th time Palin has given this answer and it is incorrect for the 4th time.

What kind of parent would purposely teach their child an incorrect interpretation of American History that is clearly wrong just because the child is a third grader? Talk about dumbing down.

Mika is not the sharpest crayon in the msnbc box. I think she got her job because of who her father is and not on critical thinking. She is the Gracie Allen figure that Scarsbourgh and the collective cast on morning Joe keep around so they have someone to beffudle for their amusement.
