Tonight Keith Olbermann, alarmed that his "Special Comments" were occurring with such frequency that they were no longer special, offered a "Campaign Comment" about Sarah Palin's continued confusion over the role and powers of the Vice President. The comment was titled, "Are you smarter than a third-grader?"

As Peggy Noonan of the WSJ accurately pointed out recently about Palin, "She just...say­s things." That's being charitable, in my opinion. What a loon.

I went to high school in Kenai, Alaska, graduating 37 years ago. The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District deem American Government a required class. If you didn't pass it, you got no diploma.
About a decade ago, my 27-year old son graduated from Nikiski High school, also inside the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District. He also had to pass an American Government class to graduate. It's my understanding that American Government is STILL mandatory in the KPBSD.
The Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District (where the City of Wasilla is located) must have a far laxer standard.
There is no other explanation.
There's enough misinformation about Alaska and Alaskans out there. We don't need Sarah Palin further diminishing whatever positives may be left of our state's national and international image.
As an Alaskan, this woman makes me cringe.

But as President of the Senate, if she and McCain are elected, and charged with bolstering the President's Agenda, she would be able to disband the then current committees and chairmen, and re-do committee assignments and appoint the chairpersons of the various committees. Remember, we'll be in the age of the maverick. She'll also control the schedule of sessions, personnel department for hiring and firing of Senate Staff, and she'll be able to address the full senate when ever she feels it to be dnecessary in order to further the President's Agenda.

There would have to be Constitutional Amendments in order to stop her, because the Constitution is ambiguous, and simply says that the Vice President is the President of the Senate. Laugh no more at Governor Palin, she apparently knows what she is going to do.

Just pray that we do not have to face this catastrophe in any position.

ONLY Senators can vote on what their rules are, their rules are largely followed by tradition and not written into law- but they could vote them into law the second they needed to. They could basically vote to force the VP to do the Truffle Shuffle before gaveling in each session.

They have allowed the VP to have more procedural duties in the past completely at their discretion and prerogative, and by past I mean pre-mid-nineteenth century.

I don't think our country is as divided as some may think. I think a lot of real Republicans are coming to their senses and realizing that their party (and ideology) has been hi-jacked by the radical religious right and are abandoning ship. I think reason and common sense will prevail.

You are absolutely right. I have no problem with most religions, specifically Christianity. However, many on the far right are as "dumb sheep". Any candidate that runs on a platform of "less taxes" and professes that he or she is a "born again" Christian is automatically deemed qualified. Just look at "that one" who's currently occupying the White House.

Keith missed one -- she admitted she didn't know what the VP did on Glenn Beck's show too prior to being tagged by McCain. There is tape of it as that's how I saw it as I wouldn't watch that a.s.s.h.o.­l.e's show.

We want to avoid the GOP taking over the minds of the fearful who are easily controlled and given thoughts? These folks who need religion to guide them can be given what they want through the democratic party, or any party in office, if we can separate out religion from party identity. HOW? Simple, create a new Ethics/Religion Forum, elected by the people, who will advise the president on all issues relating to society, ethics, care, etc. This way people can vote their desires for a value leader, WITHOUT it causing the worse, least qualified person from ever again being voted into the executive office.
