Old-Time Celebs Launch Ads For Obama

The Jewish Alliance for Change, a pro-Obama group, is launching a series of three ads in swing states that use humor and celebrity narration to go after John McCain.

An ad titled "Ain't Funny -- Vice President" features old-time movie and TV stars such as Carl Reiner, Danny Devito, and Jerry Stiller riffing on topics ranging from the price of gas ("it costs more than the car") to health care and Sarah Palin.

"He wants to put that girl who winks in the second position," says Reiner, of Oceans 11, 12, and 13 fame, "Oh God, we are in trouble."

"I am voting for 'that one,'" says famed actor, director, writer and producer Gary Marshall, referencing the snide remark McCain made of Obama in the second presidential debate.

The other two spots deploy a similar method, going after McCain for his use of scare tactics and urging grandparents to consider "think about your grandchildren" when casting their ballots.

"I got the chance to vote for Roosevelt and I'm still talking about it," says Reiner. "Obama's your person."

The spots will air Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania -- states that have large swaths of elderly voters -- according to a spokesperson for the organization. The group has bought time during the last week of the election on the major cable news networks.

My 85 year old mother and all her friends in her singing group initially were wary of Obama...but since Paling was introduced, they refuse to vote for McCain. They are listening to their children and grandchildren and are actually excited to live to see history made. Keep talking to the seniors in your families...they are willing to listen!!

These people "understand" that paying higher taxes will not impact the quality of their daily lives. They are willing to pay higher taxes because they care about how much it will change the quality of the daily lives of millions of less fortunate Amercans. People who just want more when they already have much more than enough, and certainly more than 95% of their fellow Americans, aren't only demonstrating their greed, they are destroying their souls.

It was the 5% that were showing their greed along with the Republican Party. Obama and the Democrats simply want to put it back where it belongs.

Don't worry!! Making the Middle Class stronger is not going to hurt the Rich!!! In fact, it will also have the added effect of making the Rich a little better off. When you make the Middle Class able to purchase goods and Services, the Rich get Richer. Everybody Wins!!!

The young lady I spoke with last night said they had to sit her grandmother down and tell her the reasons why she had to vote for Obama-Biden after voting republican for years. Now the grandmother wears her Obama buttons to BINGO and is telling her friends to vote for OBAMA-BIDEN. This was a brilliant way to get parents and grandparents to do something different. Great job people. VOTE OBAMA-BIDEN 08! By any means necessary! LOL

I think reacting with humor, deflecting hate, and
attempting to keep positive is one of the things that has attracted me to Obama.

He was not my top choice in the primary, not the bottom either.
I always thought that his ability to motivate younger voters was
essential to the party's success though.

the poster that someone asked about was sold in a run of 5000 on the obama website. each one was signed and numbered. they are completely sold out. they show up on ebay, and reprints are on ebay also. just make sure you aren't paying for a signed one, and getting a reprint.
