I Like ItI Don’t Like It

The Jewish Alliance for Change, a pro-Obama group, is launching a series of three ads in swing states that use humor and celebrity narration to go after John McCain.

An ad titled "Ain't Funny -- Vice President" features old-time movie and TV stars such as Carl Reiner, Danny Devito, and Jerry Stiller riffing on topics ranging from the price of gas ("it costs more than the car") to health care and Sarah Palin.

"He wants to put that girl who winks in the second position," says Reiner, of Oceans 11, 12, and 13 fame, "Oh God, we are in trouble."

"I am voting for 'that one,'" says famed actor, director, writer and producer Gary Marshall, referencing the snide remark McCain made of Obama in the second presidential debate.

The other two spots deploy a similar method, going after McCain for his use of scare tactics and urging grandparents to consider "think about your grandchildren" when casting their ballots.

"I got the chance to vote for Roosevelt and I'm still talking about it," says Reiner. "Obama's your person."

The spots will air Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania -- states that have large swaths of elderly voters -- according to a spokesperson for the organization. The group has bought time during the last week of the election on the major cable news networks.

Umm..."old time" sounds just a little disrespectful or not quite nice. Maybe "old school" or "legendary"? Any how, loved it, and would die for that beautiful poster of Barack.

Palin-Mccain put country first. Go Home. Your campaign gets worst from day to day. Stop trying to pass Palin off as anything more than a Rove script reader.

Obama's the most brilliant politician in American history. He makes Bill Clinton look like John McCain. The key sign of Obama's brilliance, and relentless toughness (thank God!), was always his gargantuan fund-raising. Now he's got so much money, he can kill McCain from every media direction at once. Sheer genius, from Jerry Stiller on down. Even better than Silverman's Great Schlep. By election day, anyone with an IQ over 10 is going to be embarrassed to admit having voted for McCain. The way it should be.

I wish you can think between posting anything, how can you compare Obama to Clinton. He hasn't even won yet. And he hasn't even been the most brilliant, Goshhhhh you are talking as if he is running for the fifth time for the WH. Roosevelt broke the records, and the public proved he was the most brilliant, and by the way if the constitution hadn't change, i think Clinton would be at his fifth.
Please save the comparison for the future.

I can't say he's the most brilliant, but top to bottom, he has run the BEST presidential campaign in modern history...He had a clear vision and he stuck to it and even when the republicans tried spitting in his face, he kept his head high and kept it moving....THIS is why he needs to be our president...Strength in the face of adversity....He is the "longshot " whose turned into the "favorite"

I agree with Hogoza tho, we can't pass judgment on what type of president he will be so Clinton does still have a leg up on him.

And I'll bet all of these people will be paying more under Obama. But they know what's right for the country.

It will be fun to see these faces again. Sure makes me feel ancient though...I have to readjust my thinking. DeVito, Reiner and Stiller are now "old time celebrities". When they were on TV in the 70s, when I was a kid...the "old time celebrities" were Abbot and Costello, Laurel and Hardy and the Three Stooges. Face it...I'm "old".

As an Ohioan, I hope for the best. Many seniors have told me that the Bush years have been the worst of their lives. Maybe this is their chance to help repudiate that legacy.

Carl Reiner's TV career started in the 1950s on Sid Caesar's show, so he's pretty old school. Stiller and Meara's heyday was the 1960s. You're right about DeVito, his career starts in the 1970s, so not that old school.

Nice to see Gary Marshall.

This is very very interesting. Notice that these patriots are mostly senior citizens. I don't know where else McGambler will go fetch votes. I hope young people listen to these senior citizens.
