Trig Palin is only 6 months old, but he's already a seasoned traveler thanks to his mom's vice presidential campaign. Born April 18, the youngest of Sarah Palin's five children is a frequent presence at rallies and speeches, from Alaska to Pennsylvania, often with older sisters Piper and Willow and dad Todd. Below is a slideshow of Trig at some of his public appearances, in chronological order.

I don't mean to be catty at all, but does Trig not cry? My 8-month old daughter would have been screaming her head off and we would have to take her out of the room. Are DS babies just more calm?

I've wondered the same thing many times myself. No vomit, no crying, no peeing, no goofy "gaga" incidents, it just seems weird. Granted, I've never had to watch a baby with DS, so I'm no expert, but the kid is never animated.

Is that normal for DS kids?

They're cute kids. Not gonna judge Palin based on her kids or her mothering. That she may be a wink away from the Presidency is what makes me break out with hives.
Are the kids home-schooled since they travel all the time?

Give this poor baby a break - these people should be ashamed dragging that little guy all over the place. He should simply be sleeping, eating, and needing a new diaper - that's the job of babies, not to be used as a prop in a presidential campaign.

The use of Sarah Palin's children as campaign props could backfire by showing that maybe Sarah Palin's children need her time and attention much more than the American people need her as Vice President.

Yikes.
Women can be mothers and also have jobs. A woman with small children has finally been asked to be a vice presidential nominee. I don't agree with her politically at all, but I think it is a huge leap for women. And my fellow Dems are saying she should be back home with the baby? Or she should not be with the children---they should be back in school or with a nanny back home?
It's fabulous that a mother is out there with her kids as a viable candidate.
She's paving the way, and people blast her for not being at home with her special needs child, or having her children in school. They are probably home schooled. Like lots of little celebrity kids.
This really is starting to sound a little sexist to me. We don't have to agree with her politics at all to appreciate the fact that a mother is actually running for vice-president. And she's tough.
Also, picking at Tod for dropping out of college is harsh. So what? Would we be talking about a male candidate's wife dropping out of college? Maybe we would, but I'm not sure. I've never heard that charge leveled before.

If not her, then Todd needs to stay home home with the kids, or grandma, or somebody. Kids deserve to live their life and not be schlepped around campaigning. As a politician, of course an introduction to her family was mandatory, but that's where it should've ended, anything beyond that, is parading them and using them as props, and that's not right for any politician, male or female.

Mrs. Palin has 5 children! Hillary Clinton had ONE child and told many women during her campaign, as a woman and mother how extremely difficult it was to keep everything and order, be the mother and wife she wanted to be, all the while holding such a demanding job....and she was only the president's wife, NOT the vice-president of the US! How can we expect Mrs. Palin to be able to fulfill the duties of vice president of the United States with 5 children. Which is to suffer? I think that we all know the answer. I applaud her for having 5 children, being an evident smart and beautiful woman, but that is NOT what the United States needs in office. Just my opinion. BTW, I am STILL UNDECIDED about my vote for president.

I think you should look at several issues to assist you in making up your mind.
Have you visited the candidates websites? I know that Senator Obama's website is full of information as well as discussions on the smear tactics.
I have not visited Senator McCains website and I do not watch Fox News!

Did you watch Senator Obamas' informercial? Also, look at it another way. If something happened to either candidate, the VP would be the president. Who would you want to replace the president in the event something happened to the candidate you voted for?
Do you have healthcare? Look at where the candidates stand on healthcare. Look at where they stand on the War. Do you believe in womens' rights? Senator McCain and Palin differ with Senator Obama and most women on this issue. Possibly overturn Roe vs. Wade.
Ask yourself, do you want to be better off in 4 years? If so, Senator Obama has a plan along with the American people to help us move out of this recession and build American back to a great country that it use to be. That includes being respected and one of the richest countries in the world.
It's a decision you have to make but if you want my opinion, I say touch that screen, pull that lever, draw the line, punch the hole, however it is that you vote and let it be for Senator Obama and Joe Biden. It is time for Change.

He is awfully cute, but I wonder if he gets the attention and stimulation and exercise any child especially a special needs child must get to thrive and develop as well as possible. A baby needs stability, not to be passed around all the time. Just sayin'.

Not prepared to be a mother? This mother has successfully raised a young man who is currently overseas defending your right to make such an inane, uninformed, uneducated, hate-filled remark. Whether or not she is ready to be Vice President may be within your "pay grade" to debate. Her ability to "mother" is most definitely not. Question: How can those of you on the liberal left, the ones who are so anxious to have the "choice" to kill your baby who - heaven forbid, may interfere with your career plans! - even consider yourselves fit to ask such a question of a woman like Gov. Palin?

Why you came hereto to express unchecked facts is beyond reasoning, blah, blah!

"This mother has successfully raised a young man who is currently overseas defending your right to make such an inane, uninformed, uneducated,hate-filled remark."

Your statement is partially true, she raised,he was given the choice to go!

You are the inane,uninformed,uneducated.

I think the point of the picture gallery is that Trig is awfully big for a six-month old child. Possibly special needs children grow faster than other children? Keeping this group on the road must be extermely tiring to all involved, and it only makes me wonder more than ever "what was McCain thinking?"

In virtually all cases, Downs' kids/adults are overweight (from slightly pudgy to obese). My dad's worked with special needs adults and children for 35 years; in all that time, I have yet to see a skinny person with Downs'.

I don't understand how people feel they can judge how a woman and her family care for her child. Not one person besides that child's mother and father know what that child needs and can be a part of. I lost a 5 1/2 month old child that was on society's "expected daily schedule" as I went to work. Let's just say that if I had the opportunity to do it over, my son would have been with me everywhere no matter what anyone else felt is appropriate. I've had another son since and he goes with me everywhere. Time is short and everyone has the right to raise their children how they choose. What may not be right for you is for someone else. Focus on her political views and respect the bond and the love that is seen between her family members.

Oh come on...she hands him off all the time. They are a family that is taking care of this little boy..she isn't making it look anything. Her children are very nice looking and they seem to be well mannered. They have learned the social graces and that is why it looks easy. She no doubt did that...kudos. The little guy is being stimulated in that he is being around lots of people, traveling and getting attention. The hard work there will come later. And the oldest made the only choice he had...uniform or......................

Hey everyone Palin just came out against 51 in colorado. An amendment that helps special needs kids and adults.

see the story here

http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=102301&catid=188

You'd think that a mother with a special needs kid of her own would have a little more compassion on this issue.

I say that whatever Sarah Palin is 'FOR' we should be 'AGAINST'

Apparently she thinks that raising ONE CENT for every 10 DOLLARS SPENT, is just too much for kids and adults with developmental disabilities.

I'll have to respectfully disagree. I'm an obstetric nurse here in Denver and an aunt to a special needs child. Nevertheless, I didn't even support the amendment.

I understand that these children are in a bad spot because our state doesn't fund programs to assist them. However, my concern for the special needs child is matched equally by the concerns of everyone's overall health and well-being.

To advocate for one underfunded group over other equally deserving segments of the population (such as infants born to drug and alcohol addicted mothers, chronically ill adults, elderly citizens who have no health care, etc.) seemed patently unfair.

As Trig grows older, it's going to be a full time job, for both parents, to care for a Down's Syndrome kid. Frankly, if Palin wants what's best for Trig she should have turned down the VP nominations.

They are the picture of a lovely family, BUT I have to ask : Why it was Briston and not Todd who carried Trig down the steps when de=planing?.. That disturbed me as not very safety-conscious.

Otherwise, as a VERY anti-Sarah Dem, I can only hope for our sake AND theirs that the Palin family finds themselves this winter tucked safely and snugly back home in Alaska.

I thought the same thing...Give that growing baby to his Dad and not the pg teenager, but I can't obsess over the safety issue...they are capable of figuring that out themselves.
I agree with everything else.
