WASHINGTON — Al-Qaida supporters suggested in a Web site message this week they would welcome a pre-election terror attack on the U.S. as a way to usher in a McCain presidency.

The message, posted Monday on the password-protected al-Hesbah Web site, said if al-Qaida wants to exhaust the United States militarily and economically, "impetuous" Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain is the better choice because he is more likely to continue the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"This requires presence of an impetuous American leader such as McCain, who pledged to continue the war till the last American soldier," the message said. "Then, al-Qaida will have to support McCain in the coming elections so that he continues the failing march of his predecessor, Bush."

SITE Intelligence Group, based in Bethesda, Md., monitors the Web site and translated the message.

"If al-Qaida carries out a big operation against American interests," the message said, "this act will be support of McCain because it will push the Americans deliberately to vote for McCain so that he takes revenge for them against al-Qaida. Al-Qaida then will succeed in exhausting America till its last year in it."

Mark Salter, a senior McCain adviser, said he had heard about the Web site chatter but had no immediate comment.

The message is credited to a frequent and apparently respected contributor named Muhammad Haafid. However, Haafid is not believed to have a direct affiliation with al-Qaida plans or knowledge of its operations, according to SITE.

SITE senior analyst Adam Raisman said this message caught SITE's attention because there has been little other chatter on the forums about the U.S. election.

SITE was struck by the message's detailed analysis _ and apparent jubilation _ about American financial woes.

"What we try to do is get the pulse of the jihadist community," Raisman said. "And it's about the financial crisis."

Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden issued a videotape just four days before the 2004 U.S. presidential election directly addressing the American people.

Sounds phony - if provable at all.

Anyway, of course Bin Laden would prefer American troops stay overextended.
The cost of this war and others is how they intend to bring down the US. Seems to be on track.
Remember, WHAT was hit as a symbol: not Disneyland, not a mall, not a football stadium - but the World Trade Center - symbolic of financial dominance

As a Manhattanite who lives within walking distance from ground zero, I live every day in dread of some horrific "October Surprise" by Al Qaeda -- another attack to sway ignorant voters towards McCain (when clearly, Obama would be a better leader at any time.)

People don't realize Ben Laden has been playing this mind game for years and dummies like Bush,McCain and their supporters fall for it every time. You have to understand the Middle Eastern mind and Middle Eastern logic. When Ben laden said he supported Kerry, he knew Americans would vote for Bush and continue the lunacy of the Iraq war along with bankrupting our Treasury. When he said Iraq is the focal point of the war against the U.S.A. dummies like McCain fell for it,and even continued to trumpet what Ben Laden said. THE PRIZE IS PAKISTAN! It always has been. The only Islamic country with a nuclear arsenal. Obama knows this, and anyone with any brains knows this. While we've been spending our blood and treasure in Iraq (which Al Qaeda DOESN'T want because it's Shiite and Al Qaeda is Sunni), they've been building alliances in Pakistan. We should have gone in when we had Musharraf on our side and taken Ben Laden out. It's too late now.95% of Pakistanis now support the Taliban (where they got their start) and Al Qaeda to a lesser degree. Don't believe McCain's B.S. about "winning" in Iraq. We lost the day we invaded.

And -- as a last add on to my previous post about the complete crap/manuipulation tatic that this obviously is --- considering that CNN just reported three days ago about the switch in sites -- do you really think there is any way that Al Quada DIDN'T KNOW we were watching the site... please - use common sense people.. By the way, even if Al Quada did want Obama to win - that doesn't mean the man will give into them - so again, just don't let THIS sway you.. None of us should want to be that easily manipulated.

I can not believe that there are those of you that actually believe this! Why do you think it was stripped out of the news so fast!! Because its complete crap -- and those of you that say "it was a PASSWORD PROTECTED SITE.." Yeah - the same site that we have been observing/reporting on for years (one of the many). In fact, CNN was just reporting that users of the "more commonly used" Al Quada site were moving over to this "new site" because the other site was down. Three days after that report - this comes out. How do you think we knew the other site was down? How do you think we knew users were "moving over". I'm not saying that you should vote for Mccain or against Mccain based on this -- but please, don't let the OBVIOUS attempt at manipulation by Al Quada sway you. By the way - I'm a computer geek -- it ain't that hard to crack websites! And Al Quada knows this as well as anyone else.

4 years ago, the Vote Bush-Bin Laden call was smarter : Bin Laden simply boosted Bush, without being too explicit.

This time, al Qaida followers are stupid enough to be more transparent : we want the same team because if someone like Kerry or Obama wins we can't play our nasty ping pong game anymore.

It's time for America to get rid of the Bush-Cheney theocon-neocon trash.

This includes McCain, who shamelessly pledged allegiance to these thugs (http://e-blogules.blogspot.com/2008/09/change-is-coming-and-mac-will-fight-but.html ).

Two things:

First, the CIA has confirmed that Bush was the candidate of choice for Al Qaeda in 2004. If some Republican wants to dispute this, take it up with the Bush-controlled CIA.

Second, the information about Al Qaeda's preference in this election is a leak from a private password-controlled website, which had to be translated into English. It was clearly not designed to be leaked to the American people. If Al Qaeda wants to manipulate the buffoons of the nation, they will do what they did in 2004 and endorse the Democratic candidate.

On Oct. 29, 2004, just four days before the U.S. presidential election, al-Qaeda leader Osama bin-Laden released a videotape denouncing George W. Bush. Some Bush supporters quickly spun the diatribe as “Osama’s endorsement of John Kerry.” But behind the walls of the CIA, analysts had concluded the opposite: that bin-Laden was trying to help Bush gain a second term.

This is not the first time we heard this. The bankruptcy thing was supposedly said back in 2004 too. And of course, AQ cannot win USA militarily so they need to make sure “the great satan” (or whatever they call USA) uses massive amounts of resources and thus bleed sort of to death in this way. Nothing suprising about this nor about blowbacks. With operation cyclone Zbig + Carter made sure that the Soviets had their own ‘Nam in Afghanistan in the late 70’s and also during the 80’s Reagan continued the program. It contributed greatly to the downfall of the Soviet Union. So of course AQ would want to use the same tactic. They need US presence in the middle-east so that a “holy war” is an easier sell.

A new study from the RAND Corporation examined how 648 terror groups around the world ended between 1968 and 2006. It found that by far the most common way for them to disappear was to be absorbed by the political process. The second most common way was to be defeated by police work. In contrast, in only 7 percent of cases did military force destroy the terrorist group.

“There is no battlefield solution to terrorism,” the report declares. “Military force usually has the opposite effect from what is intended.”

Yes...but AMericans heartily believe in a military economy and the American govt believes in attack first and ask questions later....one forgotten episode in this Bush Adminstration as the coup in Haiti against Aristide- the military removed him and gave him a "choice" to go to Africa to a country he had no ties to while they installed another govt. Haiti has suffered even more violence and setbacks since, and the US is indifferent to its role in their politics.IT is always the US military and it creates more enemies than friends.

Oh, for heaven's sake, of course they want McCain to win. Bush was great for their recruiting, and it's likely McCain would be even better. They're terrified that Obama might win; a rational, smart president would be very bad for them.

Anyone with half a brain KNOWS Al Qaeda is hoping for Obama to win, and we need to ensure that the Obama thugs from the left do no tget in.

Of course AQ is hoping for Obama to win. Their justification is an attempt at reverse psychology on the Republican electorate to make them vote for Obama, and Obama WILLl win. I can already smell the rigor mortis of the conservative movement which is unable to reinvent itself because it's not adaptable to change. No wonder you don't believe in Darwinian evolution.

Here's my two cents. I believe that if the GOP/McCain camp are planning anything to cause the electorate to become terrified and run en masse towards the voting booths to vote for them; it won't work this time, besides, look at everything thing else they have tried during this election season. Karma is on their arses, and she is pissed. Everything they have done and tried to do has and will backfire. Don't believe me? Just look back (no real need to go further than the VP pick).

This is OUR moment.
This is OUR time.

We are and will take our COUNTRY back from the reTHUGS.
