WASHINGTON — Al-Qaida supporters suggested in a Web site message this week they would welcome a pre-election terror attack on the U.S. as a way to usher in a McCain presidency.

The message, posted Monday on the password-protected al-Hesbah Web site, said if al-Qaida wants to exhaust the United States militarily and economically, "impetuous" Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain is the better choice because he is more likely to continue the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"This requires presence of an impetuous American leader such as McCain, who pledged to continue the war till the last American soldier," the message said. "Then, al-Qaida will have to support McCain in the coming elections so that he continues the failing march of his predecessor, Bush."

SITE Intelligence Group, based in Bethesda, Md., monitors the Web site and translated the message.

"If al-Qaida carries out a big operation against American interests," the message said, "this act will be support of McCain because it will push the Americans deliberately to vote for McCain so that he takes revenge for them against al-Qaida. Al-Qaida then will succeed in exhausting America till its last year in it."

Mark Salter, a senior McCain adviser, said he had heard about the Web site chatter but had no immediate comment.

The message is credited to a frequent and apparently respected contributor named Muhammad Haafid. However, Haafid is not believed to have a direct affiliation with al-Qaida plans or knowledge of its operations, according to SITE.

SITE senior analyst Adam Raisman said this message caught SITE's attention because there has been little other chatter on the forums about the U.S. election.

SITE was struck by the message's detailed analysis _ and apparent jubilation _ about American financial woes.

"What we try to do is get the pulse of the jihadist community," Raisman said. "And it's about the financial crisis."

Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden issued a videotape just four days before the 2004 U.S. presidential election directly addressing the American people.

Of course Al Q is salivating for a McCain victory. They know the US would go from dumb (bush/cheney) to dumber (mccain/palin).

Al Qaeda couldn't be more pleased with they way things have turned out under BushCo, so it only stands to reason that they want more of McSame.

The fact that they would prefer a McCain presidency ought to motivate every American to vote for Obama.

NOT. !! Read the statement. It is an attempt to manipulate you into voting for Obama. That is why they came out with it before the election. They are threatening an attack, linking it to John McCain to scare you into voting for Obama. Reverse-reverse psychology. Typical anti-American rhetoric . Too bad we hear anti-american rhetoric too often from our own citizens as well. There is alot of it on this site.

Posted earlier in October: One way McCain could win is if America al Qaeda inflicted a significant terrorist attack between now and the election. The Obama campaign should be preparing an argument why Obama is best suited to deal with al Qaeda and a terrorist attack. It should prepare an argument why al Qaeda prefers to have McCain at the helm of the US presidency than Obama. Al Qaeda PREFERS TO HAVE MCCAIN AS PRESIDENT OF USA because Obama's image would disempower Al Qaeda around the Arab world and rob it of the stereotypically white American image that al Quaeda needs to target it as the enemy. An Obama presidency robs al Qaeda of the polarity that it relies on to depict the USA an enemy of Islam and enlist members.

Its possible, but you have educated Muslims, and you have those who are brainwashed with no education and indoctrinated at birth, it could help, but having a non white President will not stop the desire to bring down the great satan...the threat will remain as long as we live our lives the way we do. If we claimed Allah as God, and instituted Shia law, then we are safe...right? That is what they really want.

June:

I have to get going, so I won't pick apart any of what you said in this post. Like other McCain supporters who post here, you are pretty much wrong about everything. Unlike many of them, however, you don't get nasty and insulting (at least I didn't see that in any of your posts). I've enjoyed sparring with you and hope to do it again soon. Heck, I might even click your "I'm a fan" link one of these days. Take care, be well, and may you have peace and contentment in your life.

See this here......"Mark Salter, a senior McCain adviser, said he had heard about the Web site chatter but had no immediate comment."

That right there is what you call BS.
If Salter said he had no comment ...then, you have to ask yourself....WTF are they up to?

They are bust planning how they are going to try to steal this election.

The reason there have been no terrorist attacks since 911 is because of Bush. Bin Laden's plan was to destroy the US economy.
Bush did that for him.
He doesn't need to attack again, not yet.

OBL's brother was Bush's very first business partner. A historical fact.

And, after 9/11, when ALL planes were grounded, Bush had 2 commercial flights carry all of OBL's relatives who were in the U.S. out, without even questioning them.

Prove it. It is irresponsible behaviour to state things as fact that you can't support with evidence.

Yes..it has been Bin Laden's plan of action from day one. He told us this via video...so did the other ....?......his right hand guy who sends the videos.
Bush & co....chose not to air that part of the video over and over...but it was in there.
They Al Q planned to bring us to our knees...weaken our defenses...our military and destroy us financialy.
Bush chose to not bring this up and instead he/they chose to beat it into our heads that we are safer now ...that we haven't been attacked.

[1] I think genia may be referring to OBL’s Nov. 2004 straight-to-video release where he discussed Al Qaeda’s strategy against the US, saying it was “easy for [Al Qaeda] to provoke and bait this administration“:

"All that we have to do is... cause America to suffer human economic and political losses without their achieving for it anything of note other than some benefits to their private companies. […]

So we are continuing this policy in bleeding America to the point of bankruptcy. […]

... the Mujahedin recently forced Bush to resort to emergency funds to continue the fight in Afghanistan and Iraq which is evidence of the success of the bleed-until-bankruptcy plan with Allah’s permission… And it all shows that the real loser is… you. It’s the American people and their economy."

[3] Bin Laden: Goal is to bankrupt U.S.
http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/11/01/binladen.tape/

"We are continuing this policy in bleeding America to the point of bankruptcy. Allah willing, and nothing is too great for Allah," bin Laden said in the transcript.

"We, alongside the mujahedeen, bled Russia for 10 years until it went bankrupt and was forced to withdraw in defeat," bin Laden said.

Im not endorsing any type of attack on anyone in any shape or form.

However a McCain presidency will continue the distastrous policies that many extremists reference when brainwashing young individuals to become suicide bombers and violent soldiers. They would be hard pressed to convince anyone of doing the same if America were placed in stronger position in respects to our values of justice, rightousness and fairness in the world.
