AP/AmericaBlog:

A new poll was released earlier today by the Associated Press that seemed to make imply that the race was tightening on a national scale. The Associated Press said:

The poll, which found Obama at 44 percent and McCain at 43 percent, supports what some Republicans and Democrats privately have said in recent days: that the race narrowed after the third debate as GOP-leaning voters drifted home to their party and McCain's "Joe the plumber" analogy struck a chord.

AmericaBlog looked over the methodology, however, and a found that the poll skewed far too heavily in favor of Evangelical Christians. Click here for the complete breakdown:

The problem? In 2004, evangelicals/born-again Christians made up 23% of voters. But that same group makes up 44% of likely voters in AP's poll released today. That's almost double the number - it's totally implausible.

88% Christian
81% white
35% approve of Bush

These respondents are the prototypical McCain voters, and yet he can't even win a majority of his own constituency ?

This poll is more d.amning than the ones showing double digit leads !

Yesterday I kept hearing 10pts here14pts there,So how can all of that dissapear overnight.

All Americans should thank the AP!

This will motivate all those individuals who were becoming complacent and may not have voted...this headline will assure that they DO VOTE...just an absolutely marvelous job of GET OUT THE VOTE.

As biased as this poll may be, the Democrats thank you!

Actually, Fournier is the Washington bureau chief.

You'll want to go one step above him.

The funny thing is, buried in those poll numbers is that 68% of respondents say that Obama will win and 57% said Obama will make a better POTUS. I guess even the wingers dont have faith in McCain.

Time to hold the MSM's feet to the fire folks. MSNBC, for example, is still posting this story as legitimate news with no interpretation. I e-mailed them that I was sorely disappointed in their lack of journalistic integrity in posting without question the results of a poll whose results so deviate from those of all the respected polling bodies. I added that there is a real story here that in their blindness they failed to uncover: Even in a poll heavily skewed toward a right-wing interest group, Obama ekes out a win! We need to do two things in response to this type of agenda-driven story: redouble our efforts to get out the vote for Obama, and hold the news outlets accountable for spreading distortions.

The man to contact at MSNBC/NBC is Steve Capus. nbcuni.coms@nbcuni.com

Capus is the head of MSNBC. You're extremely unlikely to get anything more than a boilerplate response from him.

You'd be better off contacting the two big evening shows: msnbc.com@msnbc.com or msnbc.comnbc.com.

I wish they would stop calling those people Christians! They are extremists. I'm a Christian, as are millions of others in America who don't believe that God is going to get someone elected just because I ask him to!

LOL im so happy this article appeared. I saw that the race was tightening after 2nd debate on front page of yahoo. I was like, umm where is it tightening? i think yahoo news is becoming more and more flawed itself. i do not know how they pick which articles to post or who opinions they decide to post; but i do know one thing. they are leaning more right everyday for some odd reason. just check out the ppl they post on their opinions section. its only one writer thats usually for obama and that's cynthia tucker. maybe i'm just late. is yahoo more right than left? or am i just becoming more left ?

CNN is starting to go the same way. They won't show anything about Palins' successionist movement, but will show the slightest negitive Obama story. More people should e-mail them about this. If enough people do it, they'll start carrying it, or e-mail MSNBC and tell them about how CNN won't air it. They propally do it just to be able to bash a competitor.

Three polls have it at 1-2 points--can't all be flawed--take a look at the New York Times poll because they have a history of being so objective Do you ever scrutinize their methods

Anyone out there have any idea what John McCain said to, for, or about the media fantasy called "Joe the Plumber" that could possibly "resonate" with any voter?
