ABC News:

When your adversaries are praising you, you must be doing something right.

Listen to this from one top Republican campaign official who says Barack Obama's ground game is unlike anything we've ever seen before:

"This is the greatest ground game they've ever put together," he told ABC News on the condition of anonymity. "It's scary."

He said Obama holds a considerable ground game advantage over McCain and suggests the Democratic nominee has hundreds of paid staffers in each state.

There was another guy that had the same ground game. I think it was in the 20's and 30's.

Excellent--see you on the trail in 2012, I, like many others, stepped into the ground game for the first time in this election and long as I can find candidates I can believe in I'll be doing more of the same in the future.

tv ad game, ground game, cyber game, game on; Barack Obama has become the first presidential candidate to embed a political ad in a video game. New technology via the Internet allows ads to pop up on billboards and other signage within games to get the player's attention. The Obama campaign is running ads in 18 video games, targeting 10 states that allow early voting.

he's ready

As an old fogey, I am impressed. And McCain's geniuses can only embed crap into people's telephones. I have been amused at how EVERYTHING they try fails.

Yeah, Community Organizers .... what do you expect?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:09 PM on 10/22/2008

Exactly.

And what's more, one good community organizer will mobilize a hundred unpaid volunteers, thus maximizing the impact of that one salaried staffer. That's the thing the Republican organization just doesn't get. It's not about how many paid staffers you have on the ground. It's about how many passionate people you can get to work for you for free.

Went to an Obama volunteer meeting about two weeks ago. I expected like four or five stragglers like myself trying to figure out what to do. Not so. Room was PACKED with new volunteers, all divided up into teams by pockets of neighborhoods. VERY young dude held the crowd's attention with a great slideshow and strategy discussion. Organized as all get-out. Was ready with call-lists for phone-banking, address lists for canvassing - all of which began right after the pizza was delivered for everybody! Unbelievably well-organized.

I knew Sarah Palin - and all the Republicans - would rue the day they mocked community organizers! Don't take anything for granted, but victory cannot come soon enough!

We have two volunteer offices in South Beach, FL area, almost everybody I know is volunteering, volunteers come and go all day, and there are more and more of us every day. Some of us take work home after the offices close and no-one is stopping, no one is interested in anything else than winning this election for Obama. We have suspended work duties in favor of volunteering. All of us feel our futures depend on this election like never before. I keep thinking of that 70's song "Power to the People".

Yes we can!

This is what having involved, energized, excited supporters will do...give them a framework, and then let them do their thing. This grew from the ground up...and see how much stronger it is? Why isn't everything done this way? Obama has mastered the combination of strong and inspiring leadership with great organizational skills. Can't go wrong with B. Obama.

i have been involved in campaigns as a volunteer for over 20 years. and each one of them has been a mess. until, this one.

this guy leads. and he spreads the ownership and responsibility and we take it from there. THIS is what the founding fathers had in mind.

this is ours.. and we are taking it back

Obama has shown how to harness the power of the internet of the internet to connect with voters and raise money in a cost effective manor. His campaign will be studied for years as a shining example of how technology has changed the political landscape and those who refuse to acknowledge these advances (McCain) will be left far behind. When you candidate admits to not knowing how to use email or search on the web - you are going to have serious problems running a campaign, much less running a country. Kudos to Howard Dean for lighting this match.

I am old enough to remember the Kennedy presidency, so I've seen a few campaigns, But, this is absolutely the most exciting campaign because it is the beginning of the future for this country. The technology plays a major role. We are fortunate to have a candidate who represents that future and understands the technology. Colin Powell got it right. Obama is a "transformational figure" who will electrify the world. I am so glad I am a witness to this, so I can tell my grandchildren "what it was like."

LANDSLIDE

" Another ground game factor? Obama's ability to tap into young voters using text messages, emails, and Facebook, the popular social networking Web site.

"They're texting and getting $10 bucks from college kids," he said. "

I don't know if y'all remember how most TV news shows - not just Fox News - snickered at the text message sent by the campaign at about 3 a.m. announcing the selection of Biden as running mate. NONE of the mainstream media (that I watched, anyway), even at that late date in the campaign, realized the significance of how Obama was communicating. They were too busy tripping over themselves as to who got the "scoop." But they laughed, they actually laughed about the text message. Dinosaurs on their way out, trying to hang on.... (At least Rick Sanchez on CNN uses and features Twitter in his program sometimes.)

Obama has run one of the best campaigns I've seen. And you know what tells me? He's ready. He's a leader. He's smart and agressive when needed. To me that is what the office of the Presidency has sorely been lacking. If he doesn't get elected then SHAME ON AMERICA.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:45 PM on 10/22/2008

And its been innovative too. He uses the internet, cell phones, you name it for fund raising and allowing his supporters to know information.

Overall, he's run a decent campaign too, of which he can be proud at the end. McCain has convinced himself he's a victim after selling his soul.
