Miss Teen Louisiana Arrested, Loses Crown

BOSSIER CITY, La. — Miss Teen Louisiana lost her crown 11 days early after being arrested on charges of leaving a restaurant without paying and carrying marijuana. RPM Productions Inc., the sponsor, took back the title on Tuesday after learning that Lindsey Evans, 18, of Blanchard, had been arrested, president Paula M. Miles said Wednesday.

Evans will have to return her sash and crown, but won't have to return any other prizes or cash equivalents, Miles said.

"She's done a good job this year," Miles said.

A call to Evans' parents' house was not answered Wednesday.

Miles said she had been told that the three women with Evans told police that Evans, alone in the group, had paid her bill. But Bossier City spokesman Mark Natale said Evans admitted not paying.

Bossier City police booked all four on theft charges, three on drug charges and two on drug paraphernalia charges, he said.

Natale said Bossier City police were called to a Posados Cafe restaurant Saturday evening because a group had left without paying $46.07. The manager had found a pocketbook at the table, and police found Evans' driver's license and about 2 grams of suspected marijuana in it, Natale said.

He said officers recognized Evans from the photo when the group returned for the pocketbook.

Miles said she talked with Evans on Monday.

The next Miss Teen Louisiana will be chosen Nov. 1 at a pageant in Lafayette. Michelle Berthelot, Miss Louisiana USA 2008, will crown the winner.

Just 11 days to the end of her reign? People, some of you live in America, yet you do not understand your people! Think of it. After 11 days, her 15 minutes fame would be over. What is the next way to keep herself relevant in the media? Answer: Pull a theft offense with marijuana in your bag. Result? (1) Probation ( as a White person, she is entitled to that privilege); (2) Free national media coverage; (3) Potential deal in a movies or TV appearances to tell us how "such a nice girl ("beauty queen") who had it all ended up like this (rememeber the so-called barbi bandits: they recieved probation and TV appearances while their Black male accomplices recieved prison terms); (4) Potential Playboy spread offer or something of that nature is in order( how much did the one who brought down Elliot Spitzer get again for being a call girl?). It's unfortunate that crimes and lack of self-respect is a new way of becoming popular and desirable in the eyes of the American people, and this girl knows it. Just watch!

It is time we save this nation billions of tax payers' money and legalize Marijuana and release those convicted of selling or holding this non-victim relaxing herb; each person imprisoned cost the tax payers a whooping $50,000 to a half million annually for each inmate. This was told to me by a retired medical officer or the LAPD.

And 50 % or more prisons are privatised, so keeping the prison inmate population high is profitable for private prison corporations..

And the disruption of good hard working families is unnecessarily epidemic.

Even though it's only 11 days, they should formally award the title to whoever the runner-up was, and let that girl do a couple of appearances before the next pageant.

Why not brighten up someone else's life a little bit who is probably very deserving (i.e., at least a tiny silver lining amongst the crap).

I'm not 100% certain but I'm pretty sure the runner-up will be competing for the 2009 title in the pageant next week... handing her title title for ten days would effectively rule her out of competing in the state pageant - which wouldn't really be fair.

(of course, its not fair anyway. The fact that Lindsey was allowed to keep the title after she was arrested twice earlier in the year is really unfortuante for the first runner-up who should have been the won representing LA at Miss Teen USA)
