BOSSIER CITY, La. — Miss Teen Louisiana lost her crown 11 days early after being arrested on charges of leaving a restaurant without paying and carrying marijuana. RPM Productions Inc., the sponsor, took back the title on Tuesday after learning that Lindsey Evans, 18, of Blanchard, had been arrested, president Paula M. Miles said Wednesday.

Evans will have to return her sash and crown, but won't have to return any other prizes or cash equivalents, Miles said.

"She's done a good job this year," Miles said.

A call to Evans' parents' house was not answered Wednesday.

Miles said she had been told that the three women with Evans told police that Evans, alone in the group, had paid her bill. But Bossier City spokesman Mark Natale said Evans admitted not paying.

Bossier City police booked all four on theft charges, three on drug charges and two on drug paraphernalia charges, he said.

Natale said Bossier City police were called to a Posados Cafe restaurant Saturday evening because a group had left without paying $46.07. The manager had found a pocketbook at the table, and police found Evans' driver's license and about 2 grams of suspected marijuana in it, Natale said.

He said officers recognized Evans from the photo when the group returned for the pocketbook.

Miles said she talked with Evans on Monday.

The next Miss Teen Louisiana will be chosen Nov. 1 at a pageant in Lafayette. Michelle Berthelot, Miss Louisiana USA 2008, will crown the winner.

Great observations.

Of course, there are no black girls getting arrested for being stupid.

Marijuana laws are ridiculous. You can thank Bush, who used to get high himself, and all the republican cabal for wanting to do everything possible to promote the prison industrial complex and keep it flourishing.

She could explain the non-payment as a mix-up between friends, or face the charge and deal with it, but the pot charge will ruin her career, her reputation and her future.

I don't think any of this is funny. This is how kids get kicked down a path that only makes things worse.

actually it was Reagan. "Just say no" was a war against pot. Mean while cocaine use increased dramatically and crimes like murder have been on the rise ever since.

Why is marijuana illegal? Why do we spend so much time and energy enforcing marijuana possession and usage laws? It's just crazy.

oh well She's still young. She'll bounce back. But one bit of advice: If you're planning on skipping out on a restaurant it would behoove you to make sure you have all your belongings so you won't have to go back. Just a little bit of advice.

This is one of the many "benefits" of keeping Marijuana illegal. Walking out on a check by itself is a stupid and criminal thing to do and ammends must be made. Now you add the DRUG CHARGES and it suddenly becomes a much bigger crime. Now it's worth prosecuting. Now the prosecutor has leverage against the girl since she's now up for petty theft, (a fine), and DRUG CHARGES (jail time).

The prohibition on Marijuana solves no problems, prevents nobody who wants marijuana from getting or smoking it and ends up with good, law abiding citizens being thrown in jail.

It's a plant. It's never killed anyone. It doesn't make people sick. It's non-addictive. It is CERTAINLY not any worse for you than alcohol or cigarettes - both of which are legal and among the most widely available products.

Well, now when she competes for Miss Louisiana, she could sing a rousing rendition of Jailhouse Rock.
