John McCain is going all in on the Joe-the-plumber meme with a television ad this morning that showcases other small business owners -- all claiming to be veritable Joe the Plumbers themselves -- criticizing Barack Obama's tax policies.

"Spread the wealth?" the anchor asks.

"I'm supposed to work harder..." says one man.

"Just to pay more taxes," says another.

"Obama wants my sweat to pay for his trillion dollars in new spending?"

The spot, titled "Sweat Equity," was rumored to be in the works yesterday and it pushes an attack line that the McCain-Palin ticket has been whacking at all week: mainly, that Obama's policies are socialistic, bad for these economic times, and destined to raise taxes on small business owners. At least two of those three claims seem recognizably baseless.

But Joe the Plumber hasn't exactly worked as a campaign tool for McCain. A Suffolk University poll of Ohio and Missouri released last week found only a handful of voters in those two states said that Joe Wurzelbacher's complaints about Obama made them more likely to vote for the Republican candidate.

The ad, according to the McCain campaign, will be televised in key states.

I find it mind-numbing that someone who doesn't even make a great deal of money is worried about the hypothetical possibility that IF they did make a lot of money, they would then have to share their wealth. A better role model for our nation would be Joe the Philanthropist, a truly successful man who is willing to give to those less fortunate than himself. Forget Joe the Plumber.

It's funny how they are continuing to use this analogy, because polls have shown that no one cares about "Joe the Plumber" anymore and it's not helping their campaign. It seems that it's a long lasting trend that the McCain campaign has been doing - continuing a failed strategy, continuing a failed economic plan and continuing failed proposed policies (Iraq war as an example). Also, in regards to Obama supposedly being socialistic, doesn't the $700 Billion bailout where the government owns a high percentage in the banks Socialistic? Obama's remarks does not even equivalate to the "actions" of the republican party in the last month. Never mind the ignorance they had portrayed towards to the economy. I think it's best that in the next 2 weeks the McCain campaign really "think" about the consequences before they attack....Because as it seems from the time this race started, all their attacks have been backfiring...

If you believe that as a normal citizen (plumber) you will pay more taxes under an Obama administration, then you are "Joe-the-DUMBER".....

I'm V the bus driver, and if this economy turns around so that I'm able to have an income of $250,000 a year coming into my home, I'll be more than happy to pay more taxes to "spread the wealth around". Damn right!

McCain/Palin and the GOP don't give a hoot about the middle and underclasses. The have never cared about Joe Plumber or Jane Manicurist or Juan Taquero or Jamal Pencil-Pusher.

Every 4-years the GOP parades common folk and asks them, "Are you better off"? Why would they be better off under a GOP administration? The GOP DOES NOT idealize the middle and under classes; they root for corporations and the corporate elite. It's trickle down, supply-side voodoo economics.

It's cool how they made his yellow teeth white. Have they been doing that on all McCain commercials? No matter what they do, he's still old as dirt.
