Today the Washington Post's Sleuth reports that Sarah Palin is spending more than John McCain on her own celebrity makeup artist.

McCain's September payments of $8,672.55 to "American Idol" make-up artist Tifanie White, who has also worked on the reality dance show "So You Think You Can Dance," are a drop in the bucket on the campaign's beautification front compared to the GOP vice presidential nominee.

The Sleuth has learned that Palin's high-paid traveling make-up artist is Amy Strozzi, who was nominated for an Emmy Award for her work as head of makeup on "So You Think You Can Dance." Strozzi was paid $13,200 by the McCain-Palin campaign last month alone, according to the campaign's latest financial disclosure report filed this week.

We noticed that Governor Palin's been wearing particularly heavy blush in recent weeks. See a slideshow of Sarah Palin's makeup transformation here.

$13,500.00 and she still looks like a regular at Fantastic Sam's. This is the one time she should get a refund... or rather we should get a refund.

Is this why the McCain camp made such a fuss about 'putting lipstick on a pig' comments recently?
$13,000. and she's still Sarah Palin, with no new knowledge of the constitution, the job requirements, or even proper grammar.

Thats sounds about right to me, we have to take into account that she has two faces to put makeup on..ie " i'm just like one of y'all " .... while spending more money on outfits in two months than 99.99% of the people she is talking to spent on their house

First off, huge SYTYCD fan.

That said, there is NOTHING TO HER MAKEUP! It's so easy to do, why not teach her how to do it for herself? My daughter is a performer so I taught myself how to do her stage makeup, even special looks for certain things. It's not that freaking hard! You get the good stuff, pore minimizers and such (she is in her 40's) but it's not like she is Hillary in her 60's.

If it's a time issue, there is still no excuse for paying Emmy nominated make up artists.

Ridiculous.

What were they thinking about? Did it take that much make-up to help her face out?

Are you serious!?!? That's a ton of lipstick! And it didn't do a thing for Backwoods Bimbo! Now they see her from Russia!

I just don't see where the money went. Her hair and makeup look exactly the same as they do in any pre-nomination formal pics that were made. Same style, highlights, makeup colors, yes maybe amped up on the bronzer, but still...it's the same. And her clothes and shoes look like the same kinds of JC Penney's skirted suits she wears in pics from business occasions in Alaska - there are just more of them. Cannot for the life of me figure out where all the money went. I know they dressed her daughters too, so probably also dressed Todd, but the kids aren't exactly looking like they just walked off the set of Gossip Girl. Everyone looks 100% JC Penney's.

Wonderful!

Skilled laborers are making big bucks from the Republican Party, who could be against that!

I wish she would shave her legs and armpits

That's a lot of money for lipstick on an Alaskan sow!

This current makeup artist is not doing her any favors with the 8 layers of blush/bronzer. For $13K, she should be looking flawless. Like Michelle Obama. Seriously, Michelle doesn't look like she's wearing a ton of makeup when she does public appearances, she just looks nice. Which is what a good makeup job is supposed to do.

Hey for that much money you could put lipstick on gorilla and it would look good. LOL

For that kind of money they should have thrown in a lobatomy, instead of implanting a parrot's brain.

Isn't all the money spent on clothes, makeup, and hair styling, just a form of welfare and affirmative action, just to make Klondike Barbie "appear" ready to lead the free world?

I thought true fiscal conservatives scoffed at aiding people who were clearly unready and unable to do the job they are hired for......

The Republicans spent that much on Sarah Palin's make-up..... and she didn't even get her upper lip waxed???? And we should trust them with the economy????
