I Like ItI Don’t Like It

In early July the Obama family sat down for an interview with Maria Menounos of "Access Hollywood." One of the topics discussed was Barack's status as a style icon, which amused his wife and daughters because, as Michelle points out in the interview, his belt and shoes need replacing, and his pants are 10 years old ("I hate to shop," he explains). Michelle also reveals that the sundress she's wearing is from the Gap: "Fortunately now they make really pretty stuff at all price ranges... [Barack] will be happy to know that this is, like, a $30 dress." Her husband then high-fives her, and daughter Sasha announces "Mommy buys everything from Gap!"

WATCH:

"Mommy" also buys things from H&M:

This dress cost $34.95.

There use to be a President who made this statement popular..."waste not, want not". Looks like another President may reside in the Whitehouse who believes in not being wastefull. Good thinking Mr. President, Sir.

I adore this family....never in my lifetime have I ever seen someone who was MEANT to be POTUS. We must put this family in the White House on November 4...sounds corny, but I feel that doing this will save America's soul.

It's probably a sin for the elite, ultra-conservatives but goin "Commando" saves a few bucks and adds a bit of swagger to that true feeling of freedom!

Kinda depends on the fabric of your outerwear. Sometimes, it just leads to chafing.

Just goes to show the difference between the classes in this country. I'm in the middle and I shop at Walmart, Target, JC Penney, Sears, Macy's, ect. and I always look for the SALE signs if I have to be bothered with clothes. Last time I updated my wardrobe was 2003. My sister said I was stuck in the 1980's. :)

It just goes to show, "you can't judge the book by the cover!"

Palin is just an "empty suit."

Class is class! Palin is not class.

Who cares.....

Wait and see if they get in the White House and then check out where they will shop after they start collecting the salary that the President's position pays.....

$400.000 per year....Not too shabby...and I'm sure they are dressing better now that they are living in
a Million dollar house in Chicago since he has been the Senate.

Why do people make such a big deal out of this. It isn't anybody else's business where they shop.

But this is on the campaign trail AFTER he's made the 4 millions dollars. I'm wondering if she's not pending a couple grand on an outfit now, then when will she?

He has been in the Senate and they still shop at the GAP.

The reason it has become an issue is due to Republican claims of elitism. From the beginning it has been clear who the candidate of the people is, and it is not the one with 12 cars and 7 homes whose wife wears $100,000+ outfits and who feels the need to hire an American idol make-up artist and spend $150,000 dressing up their running mate to play the part of qualified candidate.

The Obamas will loose some of the common touch if they move into the Whitehouse mostly due to the security necessary for their protection. But the core values that lead them to shop at the GAP will remain with them. They are typical middle class Americans. Yes they now have wealth, but that came not as a result of birth or family connections. Their success and status came through parental sacrifice and their own hard work. What is more American than that?

$00k? They made well more than that recently, he's sought after for his speeches and books. And you know what? They deserve every penny of it. EVERY PENNY OF IT. They made millions last year or the year before (or both?), correct me if I am wrong, but they already have money. Lots of it. And this is how they still are.

I know people worth millions and they dress like the Obamas and shop like the Obamas. I do not know anyone who shops like Sarah and the RNC. Of course, I don't know anyone worth $100 million, like Cindy is. I'm imagining that the RNC did not follow a millionaire's pattern. They follow the mold of a centi-millionaire.

Just like their middle class is $5 million a year, I guess their rich are worth $100 million, in which $150,000 for clothes is not even worth a blink. I'm so glad to see that they treat their employees well also. $500k a year for makeup. Wow. I wonder what their housekeepers and gardeners make. Must be nice.

The millionaires here shop at regular stores, wear makeup sometimes, probably spend more money on their kids education than themselves and actually drive pretty normal cars. I've seen more Priuses here than anywhere else.

What a bizarre contrast seeing the Obama family, which obviously could care less about this type of star f*cker attention that rules pop culture today.

I love how Barack tried to excuse himself.

Lemme try again. damn ether grabbed my last.

I seem to remember that McCain co-sponsored the McCain/Feingold Campaign finance Reform law that prohibited candidates from using campaign contributions for personal clothing. Just might 'splain why they got the RNC to use it's general fund . So much for party loyalty. All those contributions donated by people who wanted to make sure their Republican House and Senate candidates got re-elected now doin' the Palin strut on the campaign catwalk. What WERE they thinkin'?

They're thinking "What I want, my way. What you want, my way." It's only when it's someone else's rights and beliefs that they have problems.
