Carol Alt: Divorced Because She Couldn't Have Kids

Supermodel Carol Alt says she and ex-Ranger captain Ron Greschner split because she had cancer and couldn't satisfy his goal of having kids, bombshell court papers reveal.

In the papers - filed in advance of her civil trial next week in Manhattan federal court, where the stunning Alt is suing her retired hockey-playing ex-hubby for $9 million over a business deal - she also says the two continued to have sex "well after" agreeing to divorce.

The onetime Sports Illustrated cover girl - who at 47 is set to bare it all for the December issue of Playboy - told Sports Illustrated in 2001 that their high-profile marriage ended because "he wanted children, and I wasn't ready."

But in the new court papers, she says the real problem was that she "could not conceive" as a result of cervical and uterine cancer and "because Greschner strongly desired children, the two decided that Greschner should be with someone who could so provide him."

The former defenseman now has five children with wife Lori.

This is a very sad story. All I can say is...cance­r treatment makes you sterile. They don't always offer this info up front. Maybe it is common knowledge, but it was new to me, after the fact.

When you get married, you promise to be with your partner "through sickness and in health." This guy sounds like a first class jerk.

You are worth more than your uterus and a bed buddy, Carol. You deserve better than to be treated this way. It's sexist and it's wrong.

But I'm rich and famous and married to a hot model. "Worse" for me is having to settle for the silver BMW instead of the black. I'm not supposed to deal with anything real people do. Her getting sick? Total buzzkill.

This divorce is old news and she shouldn't have lied about the real reason if it was the real reason. She has made herself look a fool for saying one thing then another. Oh well at 47 I guess she is banking on finding the next guy maybe?

How do you know she lied? Maybe at the time they were discussing adoption, surrogacy, or whatever but it just didn't work out. Anyway, next time *you're* interviewed in a national magazine, I'll be expecting you to disclose every painful and deeply personal thing about your health and fertility, too.

Some men are like that. Some do not want to adopt, they want to have their own biological children and if a problem is known while dating, it should be an issue of discussion before the wedding vows are taken.

I was with a woman who couldn't conceive, but for some reason was unwilling to adopt. So she was just plain depressed. That's why we aren't together anymore. That, and money. She knows what LBA7895 stands for and if she reads this, she will know it's about the two of us.

Why do you think Gardesil is being offered to girls beginning at 9 yrs old? So they'll be protected by the time they become sexually active. Duh?!! You're the one who needs an education.
