The Republican National Committee denied any involvement in a "robotext" sent to some cell phones in Columbus, Ohio, over the past few days.
The text directs people to call a phone number and an extension. The message appears to be a combination of a robocall recording that the R.N.C. did create, as well as excerpts from a documentary for "Hannity's America" on Fox News Channel, "Obama and Friends: The History of Radicalism," as The Times's Jim Rutenberg discovered on Wednesday.
"This is not our call or chat message," said Alex Conant, a spokesman for the R.N.C.
