GOP Strategist On Palin's Clothing Allowance: Real Outrage Is "Obama Taking A 767 Campaign Plane To Visit Grandma" (VIDEO)

I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Republican strategist Brad Blakeman, responding to a question about how John McCain could square his opposition to wasteful spending with the RNC shelling out over $150,000 on clothes and accessories for Sarah Palin, said that the real outrage is Barack Obama "taking a 767 campaign plane to go visit Grandma." This is the same grandmother who raised Obama and who is very seriously ill. Blakeman continued, "Forget about the energy that is wasted, what about the hundreds of thousands of dollars to take a private trip when this guy should be humping his bags on a commercial plane or taking a smaller plane. Taking a 767 of campaign money from people who could least afford it is more of an outrage in my opinion." Anchor David Schuster, laughing, replied, "That is one of the most valiant tries I have ever seen in this entire debate about Sarah Palin's clothing allowance."

In fact, I think I'll give some more today and flag the donation specifically to help him take the campaign plane to Hawaii to see is gravely ill grandmother.

As Jim Ward on Stephanie Miller would say "...and thanks for playing 'Grasping For Straws'"

“12 more days and you won't be seeing that blowhard anymore”
It concerns me that so many people see this as a foregone conclusion.
Still have to win this thing.
So many people WON'T show on E-day. Mostly young, and therefore Obama supporters.

DO NOT ASSUME VICTORY UNTIL THE PALE MAN SINGS

AGREED!! Two weeks is an ETERNITY in politics -- and in the end, the only thing that matters is turn-out. The only thing you should 'assume' is that it's a LOT closer than it looks and we should be turning over every last ROCK for Obama voters and get them out to the polls on November 4th.

I want some of what he is smoking....dude where would the secret service go? Steerage...I use to think that they don't get it was as catchy slogan now I see it is true.. 150,000 DOLLARS for clothes in this economy is an abomination especially when Stacey and Clinton could have done it for 5,000, Nick would have done her hair for 400 and I am sure Carmandy could have shown her how to do her makeup...

How much will it cost to fly Obama and his secret service and his aides on a commercial jet?

Good try weasel. The good people of America will happily raise the money to pay for the trip on the 767. I want Obama to reach his grandmother safe and sound. His family values trump Palin's anyday. At least Obama isn't dragging his kids along to pander them to the public.
$150,000 on clothes is obscene...and I shop at Neiman Marcus!
Where is Sarah going to get the $35,000 to pay the taxes on these clothes? Perhaps she can come back to Alaska and find a clothing rebate in the budget.

Add up the additional costs of transporting on the campaign and back & forth to Alaska of First Dude, the kids, her parents for events like the convention & debate, food and lodging, etc. etc. etc. Imagine the total cost so far for having her on the ticket!!!

Does he wanna b.i.t.c.h. some more -- Come on Blakeman. -- bring it on!!!!

Thought she was a pit bull -- Ya haven't met me!!!

Todd on his way back to Alaska now -- for the deposition which could have taken place in St. Louis with SP or is it to sanitize and embellish medical reports -- hmmm.

It's likely that for security reasons they would have to fly in the First Class section which at full fare is not cheap. In addition, since the need to fly is immediate there will be problems getting seats for the full compliment of people. And, the final point, security would likely dictate that the flight be non-stop. If this were not the case then Obama would have to leave the plane before anybody else could and then be re-boarded as last one to board at any of the stops.

Of course the Republicans don't think things through before they go shooting off their mouths. Similar to their candidate.

That's weak. Is this really all you people have?
Switch it around... what if John McCain was visiting his ill, um, 158 year old grandmother. And the Dems criticized it. Can you imagine the Republican outrage about the nasty assault against family values and caring for the elderly and doing the right thing, blah blah blah. This phony outrage schtick is wearing thin, folks.

So Brad Blakeman will join the long list of Republican "strategists" who will be looking for work on 11/04 (unless they fire him immediately).

The future President of the United States should take a commercial plane all the way to Hawaii right before the election???????????? Just when I think it couldn't get more ridiculous. The GOP has clearly outdone themselves in the stupidity factor this year.

Wow! What an inciteful & thought-provoking comment! You jump into this thread, referencing an incredibly moronic response by a McCain strategist, and THIS is what you manage to contribute? You've been "watching" and this is your brilliant conclusion?
I was scanning this thread to see if anyone had the temerity to defend this cretin and his comments. This is you're retort? Please go away. The grown-ups are talking...

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:10 PM on 10/23/2008

I think you're talking about two types of "funnier" here. Republicans are funnier when they are trying to be taken seriously. Democrats just have a better sense of humor. Just look at all of the funny, witty posts here by democrats, and all of the ones written by republicans trying to be funny but failing. Take your post for example. :-)
