Politico:

Indiana attorney general Steve Carter told Politico today that he's opened an investigation into the political robocalls reportedly hitting his state.

Indiana has a pretty strong 1998 law against automated calls, including political calls, and Carter has been aggressive in the past about enforcing it.

I asked Carter's office about a report of a McCain call landing in Indiana, and he confirmed that he'd had complaints about political calls.

Well the rethugs don't have to obey the rules do they? No they make them, they are called SIGNING statements by the resident, and bothersome by those seeking office for the gop.

Vote EARLY, then volunteer it is good therapy and good practice NOW for our next campaign in 2012!!

Robocalls are illegal here in Indiana. It does not prevent them however. I got a particularly sludgy one the other day. I called the local Police.

Back on topic, as a resident of Illinois, having spent much of the last two months volunteering in Indiana, let me say this is unreal. Indiana is as historically as red as Ohio in the midwest. I'll bet O wants Indiana more than the so-called bell weather state.

3 hours? With all those volunteers there? Man. I feel like that in itself discourages people to vote.

James Caravelle summed up the McCain campaign best when he so eloquently said: "Call in all the dogs to pee on the fire, the hunt is over!"

The photo of McCain looks like he is acting like one of those old Universal Studios movie monsters. The Wolfman sneaking around a tree in the fog perhaps? Or maybe he is just trying to channel his inner Dick Chenney.

do what we did in colorado, indiana... with each hate call- each nasty flyer- call the RNC and let them know you got their message....and that it inspired you to donate to the Democratic Party- we are not about hate in this country.

vote early!

I faxed a letter to the office of the republican running for rep. here and told them the RNCC's disgusting mailers convinced me to vote for the other guy. I got a call today that unfortunately they have no control over the RNCC and they are sorry about those mailings, but there is no coordination between him and the RNCC.

This could be interesting. Robocalls are incredibly cheap to set up, (about 7 grand), and they are extremely effective. The Repubs usually get some local nutball to put up the cash, and in some cases the empty office space, and they get a few folks to make the calls and then shut it down quickly. If they've done it right, there won't be a trail directly to the campaign.

"If they've done it right, there won't be a trail directly to the campaign." yes but how many things have Bush/McCain ever done right? BTW, and I know this is a tangent but that is one of my main gripes with the 9/11 conspiracy people. They assume an almost omnipotent and omniscient capability of the Bush WH when the facts show just the opposite.
