The Humane Society of the United States filed a lawsuit Thursday against the United Egg Producers, the nation's largest egg industry trade association, and two major egg companies -- including Norco-based Moark LLC -- for engaging in alleged false and deceptive advertising.
The suit claims egg producers have misled consumers about conditions faced by egg-laying hens on factory farms. It also comes as California voters are set to vote Nov. 4 on state Prop. 2, requiring that farm animals including hens be confined only in ways that allow them to sit, stand and turn around freely in their pens.
