McClellan Endorses Obama

NEW YORK — Scott McClellan, President Bush's former press secretary, says he is backing Barack Obama for president.

McClellan made the endorsement during a taping of Comedian D.L. Hughley's new show that is premiering on CNN this weekend. The former Bush administration official said he wanted to support the candidate that has the best chance for changing the way Washington works and getting things done.

He's the second former Bush administration figure this week to publicly back Obama, following former Secretary of State Colin Powell. McClellan caused bitterness among his former co-workers with a tell-all book that criticized Bush.

Condi has tried to change a bit in the last year or so, after she figured out Israel had used her in their war with Lebanon. I saw her face when she figured it out--when they had bombed the refugee camp. She knew. You could see it.

Before that, she lied repeatedly on national television. I think she still lies, but is now keeping a low profile. I doubt if she has any regrets. She is loyal.

Some of these people are partly responsible for where we are today. They were aware of all the lies and made the choice to stay. Some resigned and those are the people that are to be admired. I just cant bring myself to say these are great guys just because they support Obama. Telling the truth and saying sorry would make the real difference .

He admitted that working in that setting was no different than living in a bubble. It was not until he got out and took a look through our eyes that he came around. I don't think McClellan was a major player in the crimes of the Bush/Cheney cabal. He just did what he was hired for and I take him at his word that he did not see clearly while at his post. I welcome his endorsement and I cannot wait for all these people to get the payoff when the Dems do the right thing. We all have to hold their feet to the fire and ensure healthy oversight and write them as passionately as we have written our reps in the last eight years. We need to start a group that holds our own party to the standards every single day that we have been so sorely longing for and show Karl Rove what a real "permanent majority" looks like.

McClellan's book made me so mad. I'm thankful that he had the courage to write it. I'll always be a fan of his. Good going, Scott!

This is a guy who was swept up as a "true believer" in an ideal that in reality did not exist. I felt total empathy for this man, and have bought his book, it was insightful, thoughtful and deeply moving when he talked about his feelings in the aftermath of being betrayed, humiliated and the cast aside by the depraved neocons who manufactured the downfall of our country.

I am not so sure that the, extreme right part was thing about the last 8 years. I think it was the straight up incompetence.
