Miss Virginia Offended By McCain Campaign Comments

They've done it. The McCain campaign has gone and pissed off Miss Virginia.

When McCain senior adviser Nancy Pfotenhauer divided Virginia into the DC suburbs and "real Virginia," Kristi Lauren Glakas felt extremely disappointed. Glakas, a recent three-time Miss Virginia title holder and whip-smart University of Virginia scholarship honor student, said the comments were divisive.

"What offended me and made me sad about those comments," said Glakas, a resident for many years in northern Virginia, "is that I've been to every county, every part of this state. What's best about Virginia is its diversity. The people, the geography. We have every class, every race, an amazing immigrant population... Virginia is the birthplace of America. To say that part of Virginia is not part of the real America is just offensive."

To the person who is concerned about increasing taxes under OBAMA 08, you will also pay under mccain, you will be taxed(your benefit pkg ill be given a dollar value) and will be added to your income at years end and then you will have to pay taxes on that) and things will be feeed to death, especially with the current economic situation. I am self employed and pay taxes up the ying yang ,under OBAMA we will go back to the clinton tax structure..which is much fairer to people

I will admit McCain's healthcare plan is terrible, but here is he beauty of the political reality that so many seem to miss. No President can do just whatever he wants. Congress has a huge say. Granted, Obama has a better shot than McCain with a Democrat Congress but I firmly believe that Pelosi and Reid will willingly spend far more than Obama has asked for. Conversely, if McCain is electted there is no chance that healthcare plan gets passed. The Dems in Congress would never pass that and one one topic at least I would be on their side. No fear about that because, in this case, gridlock is a wonderful thing! So if you just stop and think a moment, you will realize that McCain's healthcare plan is DOA.

They're still pushing this culture war crap, only now their trying to shroud this divisiveness in "elitism."
After telling us that they represent the "real" America and venting their bile on cities everywhere, they want us to believe that the term "Elite" now just means anyone who thinks they're better than other people.

Yet, I haven't heard urban America spouting off about how rural places are fake, how they don't love America, how they worship a "culture of death" or a "culture of poverty," or aren't part of the "Real America." After setting the whole election on the idea that the "real" America is just better than everyone, now they hate people who think they're better than everyone else.
