I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Singing

This is an article about singing. It's about you singing. I'm writing this because I want to encourage you to sing.

A few years ago my friend and I realized we both loved singing but didn't do enough of it. So we started a weekly a capella group with just four members. After a year, we invited others to join. We didn't insist on musical experience; in fact, some of our members had never sung before. Now the group has ballooned to about 15 people.

The reason I'm going to try to persuade you that you should start your own a capella group is because I believe singing is the key to a long life, a good figure, a stable temperament, greater intelligence, new friends, increased self-confidence, heightened sexual attractiveness and a sense of humour. There! That got your attention.

What's so good about singing? Well, there are physiological benefits: You use your lungs in a way you probably don't the rest of the day; you breathe deeply and openly. And there are psychological benefits: Singing leaves you with a sense of levity and contentedness. And there are what I'd call "civilizational benefits." When you sing with a group of people you learn how to subsume yourself to the group consciousness--because a capella singing is all about the immersion of the self into the community. That's one of the great feelings: to stop being me for a little while, and to become us. That way lies empathy; the great virtue.

Singing (karaoke)in front of people is very beneficial because it uplift your spirit, release tension from stressful life, and give a person a sense of being appreciated and esteemed..

So True so True!
Singing is for EVERYONE. I heard it said that if you don't like your voice, sing anyway and give it back to God and if He/She doesn't like it, then He/She will change it.....
Hasn't happened yet, so I guess God/Goddess/Source LOVES diversity!
I was for many years a professional singer, and did a lot of solos...but there's so much more joy to be found in a plethora of voices!

But there are those of us who can't sing, we sing terrible (yup there are those like that among us) and we know it, we don't wanna torture others with our singing voice, don't ask us to sing, if we do you will agree some folks no matter what sing terrible, me among them. Now ask us to bang a drum or blow on a kazoo, we'll volunteer.

As for snacks don't ya wanna avoid some types of food, like dairy that gives one that heeeccccchhhh in the back of the throat?

A group of us gather for an old fashioned "hootenanny". We sing folk, protest, Dylan, etc. We not only enjoy the benefits of singing together but feel we are generating positive energy for the world.

I hate when I get laryngitis (almost every cold) and can't sing in the car. Sure, when you pull up to the light it's like, "Hmm, should I pretend I wasn't singing or should I go for the gusto?"

But it never gets old.
