The Live Feed (Hollywood Reporter):

Two shows given full-season pickups despite modest ratings went different directions Wednesday night, while CBS' comedy block hit a season high.

Fox won the night with the first game of the World Series, Philadelphia at Tampa Bay (14.6 million, 4.8 rating, adults 18-49). The match gave Fox its highest-rated Wednesday since the "American Idol" finale, yet was down 17% in the adult demo from last year's Rockies vs. Red Sox Game 1 (and down 14% among total viewers).

With the Phillies winning Game 1, Fox Sports notes that it becomes more likely the Series will extend beyond four games. Only once in the last 40 years has the visiting team won Game 1 and gone on to sweep the Series.

No one cares. It's sad but it was a lot more exciting when underdog teams like Colorado got to the world Series. A year before Colorado went to the world series, you could buy tickets to seem the for 5 bucks. Nose bleed seats, but my nephew caught a pop up ball when we were there.

Ratings for anything on a network owned by Rupert Murdock can't possibly get low enough to suit me. I hope they crash and burn...I hope they lose billions...and I hope that Dion Sanders shows up in the victorious Rays locker room for the victory celebration and dumps a bucket of Gatorade on Tim McCarver.

To bad though that MLB isn't the NBA where the refs purposely make calls to favor the more marketable teams. I.E. Los Angles Lakes vs Sacramento Kings Game Six 2001 Western Conference Finals.

Whenever the Phillies win the World Series, the Republicans win the election.

It should have been the Dodgers and Red Sox. Ratings would have gone thru the roof.
