Bachmann

The Politico reported today:

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) has taped an advertisement apologizing for her televised comments calling Barack Obama anti-American, according to a Republican source familiar with her campaign's decision.

Bachmann campaign spokeswoman Michelle Marston said the campaign will be airing a new advertisement this afternoon, but declined to comment specifically on whether Bachmann would be apologizing in the spot.

...

The move comes as polling, both public and internal, shows Bachmann rapidly losing ground in her reelection bid. A University of Minnesota poll released today shows Bachmann trailing her Democratic opponent, Elwyn Tinklenberg, 45 percent to 43 percent. Those numbers are consistent with an automated SurveyUSA poll showing Bachmann trailing Tinklenberg 47 percent to 44 percent.

Watch:

The ad script:

"Once again, our nation is at a crossroads and it's a time for choosing. We could embrace government as the answer to our problems or we can choose freedom and liberty. I may not always get my words right but I know that my heart is right because my heart is for you, for your children and for the blessings of liberty to remain for our great country."

Bachmann does not directly address her comments or apologize to Obama in the ad. Other Republicans in tough spots have been more candid. In 2006, Rep. Don Sherwood (R-PA) apologized in an ad for having an affair. Recently Rep. Tom Feeney (R-FL) aired an ad apologizing for going on an Abramoff-funded trip to Scotland:

Too late. Michelle Bachmann has revealed herself to be one of those women who lie down like doormats for the GOP. She's another Katherine Harris. A Harriet Miers. A Condi Rice. Deadbeat doormats.

I guess that "soft" voice is suppose to be convincing? It's amazing the difference in her body language and pitch of voice in these ads as opposed to the Chris Matthews interview. It's obvious that the outrage and backlash after her appearance on CM made her take a different route. Too funny..

"Once again, our nation is at a crossroads and it's a time for choosing. We could embrace government as the answer to our problems or we can choose freedom and liberty..."

Why would we want to elect (or re-elect) somebody who doesn't believe government can be a postive force dealing with problems? The only reason they can have for running is self-aggrandizement and greed if they don't believe in the value of the role.

Congresswoman: You are tap dancing like Sammy Davis. Too bad you have fallen, now, and can't get up. The "damage", as they say, "has already been done."

Don't fall for it folks, it's a trap! "I wish the media would do a penetrating expose" into this so called apology. You go Elwin!

No apology, on the attack again already and a sorry excuse for a representative. She was not over acting. Her true feelings were and are clearly apparent. She is not sorry.

Unless you are a republican that agrees with her, you are anti-american. She is a lot like Palin. Maybe after she loses, she will run for Lt. Gov. of Alaska. They deserve each other.

I got to say that when we elect Barack,,, the whole world will elavate the united states of America to a new level. There is just something about electing a smart black man to the presidency. I don't know God's plans on making this happen, but America will truly be the beacon of the world again. God bless us all America.

On the flip side of electing Obama, black people will have no excuse. No more reason to say oppression. They will have to perform. That's it. Perform, no more excuses!

K Bond007, I've already been refused the right of reply to your nonsense but you have to be told. Barack Obama does not represent Black folk, he represents all Americans, and his heritage shows it. Do you REALLY think that his election will provide a 'magic bullet' to the racism that infests this nation? Get real!

Did India stop being a patriarchal and sexist society when Indira Gandhi was elected leader...NO!
Did the ruling class Peruvian 'gringos' lose all their power when the son-of-a-peasant Morales became their leader...NO!

Your expectations are too high, and I strongly suggest you check your own worldview before projectively looking to others to change theirs....

A Republican source states that Michelle Bachmann taped an advertisement apologizing for her
bigoted remarks. Maybe she should air it - if the stated ad has an apology in it, this sure ain't it.

I agree that is not an apology. Maybe she will get a chance to think of something better after November 4th. The fact that she is a republican does give the authority to decide who is Anti-American. If she honestly believes that is an apology she should not be in the House of Respresentatives anyway!

Is it just me - or do her eyes creep anyone else out? Have you seen the Chris Matthews interview - her eyes were pulsating. She is wired on something.
