Bachmann Tapes Apology Ad

The Politico reported today:

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) has taped an advertisement apologizing for her televised comments calling Barack Obama anti-American, according to a Republican source familiar with her campaign's decision.

Bachmann campaign spokeswoman Michelle Marston said the campaign will be airing a new advertisement this afternoon, but declined to comment specifically on whether Bachmann would be apologizing in the spot.

The move comes as polling, both public and internal, shows Bachmann rapidly losing ground in her reelection bid. A University of Minnesota poll released today shows Bachmann trailing her Democratic opponent, Elwyn Tinklenberg, 45 percent to 43 percent. Those numbers are consistent with an automated SurveyUSA poll showing Bachmann trailing Tinklenberg 47 percent to 44 percent.

Bachmann does not directly address her comments or apologize to Obama in the ad. Other Republicans in tough spots have been more candid. In 2006, Rep. Don Sherwood (R-PA) apologized in an ad for having an affair. Recently Rep. Tom Feeney (R-FL) aired an ad apologizing for going on an Abramoff-funded trip to Scotland:

"Not all cultures are equal." What a dumb broad! I guess that the "fact" that all cultures are not equal justifies slavery, racism, and the annihilation of the American Indians tribes. This woman put her foot in her mouth with her first comment, and, amazingly enough, she comes back with a retort where she puts a log in her mouth. She is absolutely brilliant! You know, this just goes to show you that Republican women are Evil Women. They have graduated beyond the role of Mean Girl from high school and college age, to a full fledged right wing hateful woman.

The thing with these Evil Women is they always think *ahem* KNOW they're right, even when attempting to apologize for wrongdoing, there is never an actual admittance of guilt. And behind the "apology" there is a sense that she still believes what she says and is deceptively apologizing for "our benefit"

I'm glad she's losing in the poll, these women are they type of women that need to be put firmly in their place, as they drag down womenkind as a whole. I'm a woman, and I approve this message!

As much as I loathe Bachmann's sentiments, saying Republican women are "evil women" is just too much. There are some fine Republican women leaders who do not spew this garbage. Unfortunately, they are left in the background while the others are MSM fodder. This is the one fact I cannot get away from when it comes to McCain's choice of running mate.
