Most likely, that's the gist of how they did it. it probably took quite a bit of time and set up to get right. they'd have to model obama and mccain accurately in 3d and match control points on those models with movements of points marked on the actor's faces. (not to mention matching lighting and skin surfaces) It probably also employed multiple cameras to get accrurate transformations of the actor's faces.

Either that or they could match video footage of McCain and Obama in 2d, but that would arguably be more time consuming. All in all, they deserve a lot of credit for the techincal aspect of what they did.

One thing I love about this year's elections is there is a lot of creativity and energy emerging from arts.

Graphic design, creative video making, poster art, funny GIFs (a Zoolander clip of Obama, Biden, Clinton and Obama's wife is my favorite), and so much more. I love visiting the poster art site for Obama www.designforobama.orgg). So many original posters and interesting twists on classic and iconic posters.

I wish there is one for McCain as I'd like to see what will his supporters come up with their creativity and skills. Even better if it's done without negativity.

I don't know if it's a testament to his campaign's ability to know a good thing when they see it- or their ability to bring out the best in people- or maybe it's just the mad skills of we gen x & y'ers. Yes, I agree. I think the energy and positivity of the Obama-Biden campaign have sparked people's creativity. It's fantastic. Mad or not, skills are wonderful. I'm happy to have the opportunity to enjoy seeing the results of these skills. :)
