Thousands of uninsured Cook County residents may get help from a new prescription drug program.

The program is available to all low-income people in Cook County, even if they are not legal immigrants.

Cook County commissioner Roberto Maldonado announced the program Thursday. It supplies medications by mail order to people with chronic conditions. There are 150 medications available for $20 for a six-month supply.
