McCain Ad Uses Biden's Words Against Obama

The McCain campaign's newest television advertisement, released Friday morning, goes straight after Barack Obama's readiness to handle an international crisis by using his running mate's words against him.

Titled "Ladies and Gentlemen," the spot juxtaposes Joe Biden's rather boneheaded (but out of context) statement that Obama will be tested within six months in office with a series of frightening shots of terrorists and hostile foreign leaders.

"It doesn't have to happen," says the announcer. "Vote McCain."

In past elections this line of attack would likely be a far more dominant narrative. But it is testament to just how prevalent economic concerns are -- and just how strong of a debate performance Obama had -- that questions about his foreign policy readiness haven't had their traditional affect.

It's true that McCain's been "tested" already...and failed. He failed to evade incoming antiaircraft fire, he failed to evade capture, he failed to escape from captivity, he failed to win the nomination in 2000, and now he's failing to win a general election.

The full quote of what Biden said is never printed. He followed his comment with (paraphrase) Barak has a spine of steel and will meet the challenge. He was actually giving the group his experienced assessment of Obama's skills dealing with crises and tough calls.

McCain's example of being "tested", as a navy pilot during the Cuban Missile crisis, is ridiculous. He was not in a position for any foreign power to talk to him, discuss anything with him, or test him in any way. In this sense he is as untested as any new president.
Here are his real foreign policy tests, which he has failed miserably:
1. "We are all Georgians." This grandstanding was dangerous and reckless. Obama's response was diplomatic, strong, and calm in frenzied waters.
2. "We will only talk to our friends." Even Gen. Patreus said we should talk w our enemies. Obama's judgment is correct. During an interview with a Spanish journalist, he even seemed to state that he would NOT talk with Spain's leader. Again, erratic and dangerous.
3. "Iraq was a success." As there has been no reconciliation, this was not a success.
4. We should do the same surge in Afghanistan. Another top general disputes this, as well.
If we are to use McCain's judgment during this campaign: Sarah Palin, clueless during the market crisis, and his temper, he is completely unfit for the Presidency. I can see him reacting exactly the same during an international crisis, and becoming angry. NOT GOOD for our country.

I have already voted for Obama yesterday, but I gotta say that Biden should not have put this kind of rhethoric out there in light of smear campaign that McRage and Failin are pushing. "Tested" or "Not tested" - the chances of it are pretty much the same for any candidate, but bringing it out 14 days before the election while talking about your running mate is not wise. Sometimes Joe just talks too much and gets too sentimental.

Any hope of that a being effective immediately vanishes in the last image...the McCain/Palin logo. As soon as voters see the name Palin and think about Obama being tested, with Biden as his adviser vs. McCain being tested, or worst yet, Palin being tested, it only reinforces Obama.

Sorry but we can't be fooled. The McCain campaign should remember their candidate have had 4 death threatening-cancer-operations on his medical record. And at age 72, he is a very old man, whose VP choice's IQ base is freightening zero.

Senator Biden ( sorry to say, needs a good Psychologist overcome his lose talks when excited) was trying to say in another words, McCain was too old and a sick man who due to his persistant cancer medical history, is risk. That should the power of the President be vested to his totally unqualified VP choice as President, at this very times of economic uncertainty, 2-wars, etc, the WORSE, can be imagined!

That Sarah Palin, whose husband is already a great security risk because of his membership to a secessionist party - The Alaska Independent Party (AIP)- is also a peril to this great nation!

There is no misunderstanding in what Biden said - everyone gets tested, it's no different for the new president. And I will add, America is broken and our moral standing abroad is too. The new president will have much repairing work to do. Since we know McCain isn not the leader this nation needs at this time, then it can only be Sen. Obama - the healing leader - who will have to come in and clean up after 8 years of Bush-McCain's mess !
