McCain Ad Uses Biden's Words Against Obama

The McCain campaign's newest television advertisement, released Friday morning, goes straight after Barack Obama's readiness to handle an international crisis by using his running mate's words against him.

Titled "Ladies and Gentlemen," the spot juxtaposes Joe Biden's rather boneheaded (but out of context) statement that Obama will be tested within six months in office with a series of frightening shots of terrorists and hostile foreign leaders.

"It doesn't have to happen," says the announcer. "Vote McCain."

In past elections this line of attack would likely be a far more dominant narrative. But it is testament to just how prevalent economic concerns are -- and just how strong of a debate performance Obama had -- that questions about his foreign policy readiness haven't had their traditional affect.

McCain is fooling himself if he thinks he has been "tested" and that the rest of the world will automatically 'respect' him and not dare challenge the administration. I suspect that it is possible that the extremists will most certainly challenge McCain for 2 reasons: 1) they know that McCain's response will be more bellicose than a response from Obama, setting up more violence and more reasons so that more extremists can join their cause, and 2) they know that Americans are tired of war and that the expense is bleeding the country to death, getting McCain to respond with his war mentality will continue to divide the country, set up more discontent throughout the country, set the people more against the government, and continue to drain the treasury; in other words, to continue the internal destruction of the country.

Anyone with half a brain could understand the meaning of Biden's words. Here I was under the impression McCain might understand as well. Doesn't appear he does. Just remember all the crisis moments we have experienced in the last six months. Obama is the one who has an unwavering calm way of working through it (them) while Old thinking GOP John drifted all over the place. Desperate people do and say desperate things. Doesn't President Obama have a unifying ring to it??

It's classic Joe Biden. Joe is always a little confused even though his heart is in the right place. The problem for McCain using this is that anyone who listens will also be confused. Biden's words don't hurt Obama. All they do is raise some eyebrows. "Rhetorical flourish" indeed. Nothing to worry about here.

This just works in Obama's favor. The second someone thinks about America being tested, you in turn think about McCain's erratic nature and Palin's inexperience.

The most important part of Biden's comments they haven't been playing on the news is his response to said crisis...He said Obama will pass this international test and people will see he has steel in his spine.
