McCain Ad Uses Biden's Words Against Obama

The McCain campaign's newest television advertisement, released Friday morning, goes straight after Barack Obama's readiness to handle an international crisis by using his running mate's words against him.

Titled "Ladies and Gentlemen," the spot juxtaposes Joe Biden's rather boneheaded (but out of context) statement that Obama will be tested within six months in office with a series of frightening shots of terrorists and hostile foreign leaders.

"It doesn't have to happen," says the announcer. "Vote McCain."

In past elections this line of attack would likely be a far more dominant narrative. But it is testament to just how prevalent economic concerns are -- and just how strong of a debate performance Obama had -- that questions about his foreign policy readiness haven't had their traditional affect.

This is a STUPID Ad and I will tell you why. McCain is Guranteeing that he wont be TESTED. WTF how the hell can he make such a gurantee This ad getsto the heart of my problem with John McCain and its that he is too COCKY and CONFIDENT when it comes to Foreign Policy and its that cockiness and ignorance is going to be the bullet that destroys this country. What he should have said in this ad if he was going to run it. Is that his experience and the fact that he has been tested in the past makes him ready IN CASE there is a testing of the President. He should have said HE IS PREPARED for it. Instead he saying its not coming what kind of a DUMB argument is that he doesnt know its NOT coming anymore than Biden knows that it IS coming.

If McCain wins this election my advice to all is get your house in order make your peace cause our time on this earth wont be long. I'd rather have someone who is untested and Prepared for the possiblity of being tested than someone who is UNPREARED and thinks its not going to happen because he is special no one dare test with him at helm. More blustering yeah that'll work

I've still yet to get why Biden's comments are a gaffe rather than true.

I've also yet to get how McCain is more ready or tested than Obama is...unlike Obama, McCain seems to have failed just about every pop quiz during this election season.

Not really a gaffe but gave McCain an opening to shift some of the focus to National Security.

Obama needs to counter with an ad showing Joe Lieberman saying essentially the same thing about McCain on Meet the Press. Then juxtapose McCain's total meltdown in dealing with the economic crisis.

yup. And everyone always seems to leave out the part where Biden said "and they will find out he has steel in his spine" when talking about it. Not that I'm surprised. The media needs to make this look competitive.

McCain supported Bush's ill-conceived and poorly-executed war. He has been tested and failed.

I do not understand why this is considered a gaffe either - especially when Joe Lieberman said the same thing would happen if McCain became president (only instead of at a private fundraiser, he said it on camera).

The notion that John McCain put forward - that no one would dare test him because he'd been tested is ridiculous as well. The Cuban missle crisis was a test of John Kennedy, not John McCain. While John McCain and his fellow service men may have been put on alert, the decision - and therefore the test - was not left to them, but rather the leader of the country at the time.

If anything, because of the erratic way he has run his campaign and the flippant way he has spoken of foreign relations with Iran, Spain, and others, John McCain is guaranteed to be tested should he ascend to the highest office.

Obama/Biden will be a breath of fresh air. But it's not over until it's over and we need to make it so.
