The Wall Street Journal today rounds up the horde of prominent Republicans jumping ship to Barack Obama. Now one of John McCain's actual advisers has switched sides:

Charles Fried, a professor at Harvard Law School, has long been one of the most important conservative thinkers in the United States. Under President Reagan, he served, with great distinction, as Solicitor General of the United States. Since then, he has been prominently associated with several Republican leaders and candidates, most recently John McCain, for whom he expressed his enthusiastic support in January.

This week, Fried announced that he has voted for Obama-Biden by absentee ballot. In his letter to Trevor Potter, the General Counsel to the McCain-Palin campaign, he asked that his name be removed from the several campaign-related committees on which he serves. In that letter, he said that chief among the reasons for his decision "is the choice of Sarah Palin at a time of deep national crisis."

TPM has the press releases touting Fried's presence on the McCain campaign.

McCain's campaign is making me so proud!

What a perfect moment to renew our moral oath to our nation.

Say it with me - I pledge allegiance to the flag...

I think McCain is seriously considering endorsing Obama too...
That would be such a perfect "maverick" move...

then Obama could pull a Lincolnesque move and appoint Mc Cain Secretary of the Veterans Affairs and Sarah as Ambassador to Russia so she can meet the people in the land she sees from her front door.

So many Republicans are endorsing Obama because he shows that he is a man people believe will reach across the table, for dialouge that creates interaction, and forwards the goal of a UNITED States of America. Fact check Obama bio as president of the Harvard Law Review.

GOP Made Identical Attacks Against ACORN During 2004 Election

In a replay of a tactic used to help secure President George W. Bush’s second term, Republicans – aided by investigative agencies of the federal government – are making a campaign issue out of voter-registration forms with fake names like “Mickey Mouse.”

Trying to salvage his campaign, John McCain has jumped into the ACORN case, too, citing it at the third presidential debate. He declared ACORN “is now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy."

However, the investigations launched against ACORN – now including the reported involvement of the FBI – have raised other concerns, especially that Republicans are flogging this issue in an effort to stir up anger, to revive McCain’s campaign, and to intimidate new voters.

I am a former Republican rat who jumped ship during the 2004 election when I voted for John Kerry.
It is very funny to watch the GOP behave just like rats. literally. When stressed out, Rats begin to attack each other and actually eat each other. The ones who are not killed or eaten flee.
We now have the Democratic Party, and the Rodent Party.

Well - you are a living proof that a rat can morph into a human over time. Maybe some others will, too. ;-)

Seriously - the country needs more than one party. And better more than two. For me, my natural home would not be the Democrats either, but the Green Party. However, with a leader like B.O. I'm totally back with the Dems.

What's most impressive about B.O. is that he combines the inner strength and wisdom of a sage with the outer engagement in human affairs of a statesman. Usually, those qualities are mutually exclusive.

Let's welcome them. And expect a much more honest fight next time around if any of these people have a part of it.

This is only the beginning of a long journey. We have to stay informed to get the kind of legislation we want...we the people. Regardless of race or region, we have to make up our minds to do what is best for us as a whole, as Americans. "We are the ones we've been waiting for". We now have the tools to "know" the truth. Let's stay "Fired up and Ready to Go!"

As with all ultraconservatives ....there is no other opinion. Adjusting to change keeps the species alive. Hence, the Darwinian extinction of their species. They are now on the endangered list and I have no desire to save them. They aren't as cute as the Penguin or the Polar Bear!

It restores my faith in America to see the number of Republicans who have the good sense to leave the McCain-Palin ticket and support Obama-Biden. It is good to see such folks truly put country first rather than support the two panderers who only mouth words, rather then live them out, and will do anything or say anything to get elected, namely: McCain and Palin

Thanks to those conservatives and moderates from the Republican party who are indeed putting their country first over winning an election at any cost.

John McCain recently said that he didn't understanding why members of his own party were critical of Sarah Palin. If he doesn't get that, which is so obvious, he definitely doesn't the judgement to be President of the United States. No disrespect to Senator McCain. But I believe that deep in his heart, he knows Palin is no where near ready for this level of office. He sold his hopes and dreams to a ruthless bunch of advisors. OBAMA, '08 OH-YEAH
