National GOP Pulls Out Of Colorado Senate Race

The National Republican Senatorial Committee is pulling out of the battle for Colorado's Senate seat, yanking its ads from television stations across the state beginning next week, according to an NRSC spokesman.

That decision leaves Republican Bob Schaffer on his own to try and close what some polls show is a double digit gap in the critical closing days of the campaign for Colorado's open Senate seat.

The decision of the national Senate committees to give up on a state is traditionally taken as a dour sign for a campaign, but in this case it's muddied somewhat by the decision earlier this week of the Democratic Senate committee to pull out first a sign, Democrats said, that Schaffer was too far behind to be considered a threat.

Considering just how awful those pro Shaffer adds are it will probably help him to pull them off the air.

They are a disgrace to American political discourse.

And the Republicans should be (but never seem to be) ashamed of themselves for getting so far down into the gutter.

Apparently republicans only like to whiz away other people's money.

As a Coloradan with a Udall (Mark, not his first cousin Tom in NM) sign in my front yard, I gotta say Yahoo! (Not about me, about this race!)

This was once a close race. The 527 ads were nonstop and disgusting. My weariness at this campaign season is cautiously turning to happiness.

We can only wish that the Republican party's obvious self-destructiveness had taken hold BEFORE they inflicted untold damage on the nation and the world.

They had better worry about holding onto their BASE:

Kentucky -20% in Sept. for Obama and -8% Oct 21 for Obama: Trend +12% to Obama!

Kansas -32% in Sept. for Obama and -12% Oct 22 for Obama: Trend +20% to Obama!

Arkansas -24% in Sept. for Obama and -11% Oct 18 for Obama: Trend +13% to Obama!

Texas -21% in Sept. For Obama and -10% Oct 21 for Obama: Trend +11% to Obama

If these trends continue these states are REAL HORSE RACES!

Exactly. They are playing in Virginia and North Carolina, but are forgetting about the other states. And these states have all registered people who are not being polled. As in the primaries, Obama WILL get these people to the polls. The question is, will McCain?

I wish the GOP would drop their teevee ads in Alabama.

I've almost worn out the mute button on the remote. Ugh.
