Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:

Former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge said today that John McCain can't become president without carrying Pennsylvania and that the race would be different if McCain had chosen him as his running mate.

"I think the dynamics would be different in Pennsylvania," Ridge said when asked if he should have been chosen to run as vice president over Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. "I think we'd be foolish not to admit it publicly."

Despite my views on Palin I thought it was interesting that this year both VP candidates only bring 3 electoral votes each from their home states.

I think he's right. I thought Ridge - or even pre-convention Lieberman - would've made a heckuva ticket. Of course, I'm not your typical far-right wing Republican, so when these two (or Pawlenty, or even Romney) were dumped for Palin, I took a look and the ticket came up wanting. And, as a result, Obama is going to get my vote.

They sacrificed their moderate base for the rabid ones by picking Palin.
Glad you are voting for my candidate.

We could have welcomed Ridge with questions about the 9/11 Commission whitewash.

I smell sour grapes here. Yesterday on "Hardball" with Matthews Ridge was full of himself and McCain and how they would be dealing with thngs but he followed the script singing and spewing the lies and hate message McCain has been doing .It made me very angry that Matthews was singing and going along with it. After Matthews had had the crazed woman would wanted the Congress checked for pro and anti Americans I thought maybe Matthews no longer was so dyed in red he was bright red, but he still hero worshipped the old republican guard who has been tossed from the political scene for their Bush antics. I believe like many others that Ridge and Lieberman were not able to be chosen by McCain and he went for the beauty queen barbie instead for the woman vote alone. It must rankle both of those men to be passed over for the low IQ female whose baggage far exceeds belief.

Isn't Ridge putting his foot in his mouth by saying he would have been a better choice, but in the same breath implying that McCain made a good choice in Palin? isn't he in fact questioning McCain's judgment?

What "IF" only goes so far. Fact are he did not choose Ridge, thus there is no true measure or way to speculate how this would have turned out. We must deal with the reality of what is in the here and not, not in the speculations of "What IF".
