Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:

Former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge said today that John McCain can't become president without carrying Pennsylvania and that the race would be different if McCain had chosen him as his running mate.

"I think the dynamics would be different in Pennsylvania," Ridge said when asked if he should have been chosen to run as vice president over Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. "I think we'd be foolish not to admit it publicly."

Yeah Ridge is right, it would have been different. John McCain wouldn't have been able to rally the base after the convention because Ridge doesn't subscribe to the extreme prolife-isms of the Republican base.

McCain made the same mistakes as Hillary running a strategic campaign against Barack throwing everything including the kitchen sink against him while he stays cool, steady and issues oriented. The more this technique has mixed results the more extreme the attacks get. The danger of this type of campaigning is the vengefulness of the true believer who can't distingish the campaign tactic and from the truth. Can I say Pumas?
Of course I believe that Bloomberg, Rominey, Lieberman, Kay Baily Hutchinson, Pawlenty and others would have been better picks. Mccain might not have gotten into such desperate, dangerous attacks if he actually had a competent, ready VP at his side.

At least Palin woke everybody up. If it'd been Ridge we'd all still be sleeping.

Gov. Ridge was a part of the worst administration we've seen in a century. He might have made a difference in Pennsylvania......they would lose by only 5 instead of 10. Hurry, Nov. 4, please get here, the lunacy is getting out of hand.......

GOP Made Identical Attacks Against ACORN During 2004 Election

In a replay of a tactic used to help secure President George W. Bush’s second term, Republicans – aided by investigative agencies of the federal government – are making a campaign issue out of voter-registration forms with fake names like “Mickey Mouse.”

Trying to salvage his campaign, John McCain has jumped into the ACORN case, too, citing it at the third presidential debate. He declared ACORN “is now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy."

However, the investigations launched against ACORN – now including the reported involvement of the FBI – have raised other concerns, especially that Republicans are flogging this issue in an effort to stir up anger, to revive McCain’s campaign, and to intimidate new voters.

Before the meltdown I, too, thought Ridge would have been the best pick for McCain. But the financial crisis reminded everyone of the disaster Republican economic policies have always been: 1929, 1986, 2008. McCain is doomed because Republican ideology is doomed. No one can help him. Thanks for the huge budget deficits, the bailout, the destroyed retirement portfolio. Now, buh-bye.

Tom, that may be true, but YOU ARE NOT THE GOP Candidate for Vice President. So what ever you might have to say is just sour grapes.

Yeah it would be different. There would be color coded remarks and more duct tape and plastic for all.

Maybe if Ridge replaced McCain it would be different, but no matter how its mixed up the ship would still sink.
