Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:

Former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge said today that John McCain can't become president without carrying Pennsylvania and that the race would be different if McCain had chosen him as his running mate.

"I think the dynamics would be different in Pennsylvania," Ridge said when asked if he should have been chosen to run as vice president over Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. "I think we'd be foolish not to admit it publicly."

If Ridge (former DHS chief) were the VP nominee, we would be getting dizzy from seeing the Terror Threat Alert going up and down.

Not so sure...

Preference would have been -

Michael Bloomberg - strong in economy/finance
Ron Paul - strong in healthcare and general economy

Paul - repressive in most other ways

Paul-more religious right.

The anti-abortion base of the party would have had a fit.

But none of your past offices, or your prestige for Homeland security was enough that you would
refuse to make a robocall for Mc Cain and lie about Obama...

So had you been anywhere near the White house, it would not have been all that different, after all...

Good thing we learned in time.

Buried in this article is a reference to Lynn Forester de Rothschild. The lady is a turncoat, but I imagine that she will find warm surroundings with the dinosaurs in the Republican Party. I don't really understand the woman; she built her own fortune through shrewd business decisions, but this one (leaving the Democrats out of spite, including resigning her position with the DNC) makes no sense to me. She was Hilary Clinton's uber fundraiser, and then switched to the Republicans when her girl lost...huh? Even the Clintons more or less got over it; why not her? Anyway, the Obama machine rolls on, even with the poor Lady Rothschild plastered to the front grille. Whatever. As for the story headline: of course it would be a different race if McCain had picked Ridge for VP candidate. It would have been a different race if he had picked damn near anybody else for his VP candidate.

I'm sure Ridge is correct but now isn't the time for finger pointing. That comes next week.

He can say that now, but then again, almost anyone would have been better than Palin, you betcha.

Sorry, Tom Ridge you have no integrity, the sleazy way you behaved when you were Secretary of Homeland Security. You dragged out your dog and pony show, prior to every three day summer weekend
Floating Beer Coolers, Runaway Limos,
Wrap your House in Duct Tape, trying to scare the BEJesus out of Americans for What

Did this make you feel good ...if you had any INTEGRITY you would have told BUSH/CHENEY NOooooo.
then promptly resigned.

If you can't be loyal to yourself, how can you represent the masses.

Once upon a time Ridge had some stature, I hope he is proud of himself with his robocalls and the resultant Todd episode.

Exactly what I was going to say, so thanks. Ya know, I used to like this guy as a governor. But once he started up with Bush and Cheney, started sipping that Neocon CoolAid... forget it. He's such a sell out

Yeah, the race would be different but the outcome would be the same!

Who cares? His voice is on recent nasty McBush robocalls. Ridge should have shown some integrity by jumping ship - then one would perhaps care what he has to say. Another empty suit scraping and scrambling for public attention!
