Amy Poehler

UPDATE:
Seth Myers sat alone at the SNL Weekend Update anchor desk saying, "I'm Seth Myers. Amy Poehler is not here because she is having a baby," to wild applause. Update later ended with Maya Rudolph and Keenan Thompson singing a special duet version of "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" with lyrics like, "We love you Amy" instead of "Oh pretty baby."

Poehler's rep released a statement saying the baby's name is Archie Arnett and weighed in at 8 lbs, 1 oz

PREVIOUSLY:

Amy Poehler had a baby boy Saturday says TMZ, and thus she's done with Saturday Night Live:

Sources tell TMZ Amy Poehler has been in labor all day and just had a baby boy.

We're told Seth Myers will do Weekend Update all by his lonesome, and there's no word on whether her "Bronx Beat" skit with returning cast member Maya Rudolph -- who will also be playing Michelle Obama tonight -- has been totally scrapped or not.

Maya Rudolph did return as reported to play Michelle Obama in one sketch and at the end of Weekend Update sang a song for the new mom.

Poehler and husband Will Arnett announced they were expecting their first child back in April. The heavily pregnant Poehler gave what may be her greatest skit performance ever last weekend with her Alaska rap, as seen below.

She has a show deal with NBC and told Mens Vogue she's not returning to SNL after her maternity leave.

The Alaska rap:

After viewing the video clip on the SNL / Palin skit, I have to say that regardless of political preferences, my heart fills with pride that we are living in a country where a VP candidate not only agrees to appear on an iconic television show which has spent most of its time bashing her and her running mate, she also goes along with the "gag". That took guts.
It reinforces for me that regardless of political differences, we are living in the greatest country on earth. God bless the United States of America. God bless Saturday Night Live. God bless Sarah Palin.
But I'm still not voting for her.

Well, as long as she doesn't name it after a fruit or an adjective....

I think she'll make a great mother.

Poor kid. The world outside his house will be so much more boring than the humor filled home he lives in.

I've watched the Alaska rap skit a dozen times and it still makes me laugh...it is destined to become a classic and the fact Amy was 16 months pregnant in it makes it even funnier. We'll miss you Amy, but congrats and enjoy being a Mommy..

I've loved her since Upright Citizens Brigade, years before she came to SNL. (If you havent seen this fierce sketch comedy anthology series, buy it on DVD. Admittedly, it's hit and miss, but the hits are frequent and OUTSTANDING!!)

Congrats Amy, Will, and li'l Archie!

What a weenie. Sarah Palin was back at work three days after Trig's birth.

Just kidding - there is something very disturbing about Palin's lack of maternal bonding time.

Congrats to Amy and family.

Ha, you're assuming that Sarah actually gave birth to Trig! ;-) Releasing medical records would put these rumors to rest...

I kind of agree with you. I don't think the baby is hers. The reason for the confidential medical records, perhaps? :-)

I question why she got on a plane for 8 hours after her water broke. That's a woman hoping her baby won't make it to Wasilla alive.

And to the person who noticed her lack of medical records.... She did tell Brian Williams she would release them and then at the end said, "Well, IF they are released."

Don't expect to see her medical records - not in this last week.

Congratulations to Amy. Does anybody know if she will be returning to SNL. Why are people saying no more SNL?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:08 PM on 10/26/2008

She had said that she won't be returning to SNL after the baby is born. Plus, she has her new NBC show in the spring.

Note to Lorne Michaels: Get on your knees and beg Rachel Dratch to come back. Kristen Wiig is funny, but she's starting to play every character the same. Maya Rudolph will be a welcome return, if you can keep her, but Rachel is a gifted comedian with a creative mind.

Oh, and congrats to Amy & Will. Hope you'll reconsider after a little maternity leave. I'd love to see you, at least, back on Weekend Update. I love it when you let out that infectious laugh after some of the more subversive bits.

i couldn't agree more! Rachel Dratch rocks. bring her back. If not to SNL, then back to 30 Rock.

I'll miss Amy on Saturday Nite Live, as it is I hit the Remote button after opening monologue, then check back to catch the Weekend Update sketch at the end, the Music act. Unfortunately, since the "comedian" Kristen Wiig joined the Cast, for some reason the producers insist on sticking her in just about every Sketch -- and she RUINS every sketch she is in. The Show on Thursday now is great, and the Producers need to bring some CHANGE to the increasingly STALE regular show!

I miss the Sketches with the TEDDY BEARS on the Computer Screen of the two STONERS at College, and the more free Vibe of earlier years. The Producers pin too much of the Show on the Guest Host too, and put on some really LAME Hosts, who don't really have too much talent, more the "reality show" type Celebrities. PARIS HILTON hosting -- that almost was a "JUMP THE SHARK" moment for me.

PLEASE Saturday Night Live, find some new talent, like you used to have -- like GILDA RADNER.
Looking forward to AMY's new show, wishing her Best of LUCK with new baby.

Congrats to Amy! BTW, I think that a good producer should remix the Alaska rap and make it a club hit. I think it would play well!
