WASHINGTON — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama will campaign for the first time alongside former President Bill Clinton at a rally next week in Orlando, Fla.

The two will appear together Wednesday in the perennial battleground state, Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.

Orlando sits in an important swing part of the state, where Clinton could help Obama among the white working-class voters who so strongly supported his wife.

Bill Clinton was cool toward Obama following the bruising nomination battle between Obama and Clinton's wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. However, any lingering animosity was put aside when both Clintons gave rousing endorsements of Obama at the Democratic National Convention in August.

Since then, Bill Clinton has campaigned for Obama on his own, but the two have not appeared together at such an event.

Well, it is about time the Prez made a joint appearance. The American people are desperate for competent leadership, after the last eight dismal years, under harsh "republic" rule. A new day is dawning, if the cheating repubs. don't steal the election. VOTE!

It's great to see the Clintons ramp it up for obama. That is fantastic! It is ironic however that this time around the liberals are united as one and the conservatives are in deep disarray. Oh how times have changed.

Excellent way to pass the torch in the state that robbed us in 2000.

Excellent Move!!!

Great for a few news cycles leading up to next Tuesday... Keeps McCain & Palin irrelevant while they try to create a headline, and with time running out. LMAO

Symbolic passing of the torch from the last great Democratic president to the next.

I love it!

I have to admit I'm concerned. Not about what you would think.

I still don't trust the Clintons. Maybe this is just paranoia on my part, but I was thinking about two of her biggest supporters and surrogates, Ed Rendell of PA and Ted Strickland of OH. Both states are critical for Obama, but those two men have been very tepid in their support and very scarce on the trail. Both are governors with strong ground support in their states, a machine state in PA. I could imagine both those men "throwing" the game in their states, rallying their machines in support of McCain, with the ultimate goal of getting Hillary in the 2012 race.

Talk me down. Is this that far-fetched? Why has McCain abandoned other swing states, even red states, with closer poll readings to make his last stand in PA and OH? Why is he abandoning CO and his neighboring state of NM to throw his dwindling funds in PA, which is showing a double digit lead for Obama right now?
