WASHINGTON — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama will campaign for the first time alongside former President Bill Clinton at a rally next week in Orlando, Fla.

The two will appear together Wednesday in the perennial battleground state, Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.

Orlando sits in an important swing part of the state, where Clinton could help Obama among the white working-class voters who so strongly supported his wife.

Bill Clinton was cool toward Obama following the bruising nomination battle between Obama and Clinton's wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. However, any lingering animosity was put aside when both Clintons gave rousing endorsements of Obama at the Democratic National Convention in August.

Since then, Bill Clinton has campaigned for Obama on his own, but the two have not appeared together at such an event.

Save the best for last so people will vote with Bill fresh in their minds? If it works for attacks it works for this.

Perhaps so, westcoastsc, but you're in the minority.

The majority ESPECIALLY in Florida LOVE Bill Clinton and that's what matters. It's going to be a BLOW-OUT. Two charismatic, handsome, magnetic Democratic Powerhouses together on stage is tantamount to a hurricane of gooooood vibes.

While it might be inappropriate, I hardly call telling him to "Do the right thing" advising him. It's more like dispensing generic wisdom.

This is one article and not in the least a composite of all the support, validation and advice all Americans have witnessed Clinton Inc. providing their friend -- John McCain. Far from it. Further, NYT is OUR hometown paper -- and, they/we share the view our JUNIOR Senator's job is to represent the interests, wants, wishes of NEW YORKERS -- not her for-profit family business lobbying and other interests.

That is a right ALL citizens of 50 States enjoy. New Yorkers will have representation that serves us -- or we will change it. As we are doing w/the Executive Branch of our US Government -- and, I hope -- the citizens of Alaska and Connecticut will soon be doing.

We ALL have much work to do and triangulation machinations is the opposite of getting that work done.

Now we have a nominee for president who rightly wants to talk with our "enemies" in order to have a more peaceful world where maybe, just maybe, we can avoid senseless wars like the one in Iraq, but people of different political parties cannot be seen together or have a discussion? MADNESS!

And I thought Democrats and Republicans where already extremely polarized... my mistake. When Obama wins - and he will win - he will have to talk to people with vastly different views from himself INCLUDING Republicans. He often says he can "reach across the aisle." And I support his view of the world and his approach to politics.

I reject guilt by association whether it's Obama and Ayers or Clinton and McCain. Oh, by the way, did you know that Ted Kennedy and Orrin Hatch were very good friends?

Not afraid of it.

Actually, her governing of Alaska is closer to socialism than any of Obama's proposals. Sorry, you don't sound stupid. You've got to try harder. And, of course, release the cap-locks.

Taking money away from those hardworking oilmen and giving it to all the Joe the Moose Hunters in Alaska IS socialism. If Palin does see that, then she sees nothing.

I still don't trust the Clintons. Maybe this is just paranoia on my part, but I was thinking about two of her biggest supporters and surrogates, Ed Rendell of PA and Ted Strickland of OH. Both states are critical for Obama, but those two men have been very tepid in their support and very scarce on the trail. Both are governors with strong ground support in their states, a machine state in PA. I could imagine both those men "throwing" the game in their states, rallying their machines in support of McCain, with the ultimate goal of getting Hillary in the 2012 race.

Talk me down. Is this that far-fetched? Why has McCain abandoned other swing states, even red states, with closer poll readings to make his last stand in PA and OH? Why is he abandoning CO and his neighboring state of NM to throw his dwindling funds in PA, which is showing a double digit lead for Obama right now?

Now that Obama is "this close" to being elected, Bill decides to campaign with him.

Well, too little, too late, Bill. Where were you all summer...or when McCain/Palin went ahead in the polls (briefly and for the only time in this election) after their convention bounce? When you couldn't bring yourself to say anything nice about Obama...all the while talking up McCain...and even Palin?

That goes for Hillary, too. When she could have countered Palin's initial impact, Hillary was MIA. Instead, it was left to true Democratic women like Debbie Wasserman Schulz to lead the counterattack.

Only now that Obama's broken away from McCain are Bill and Hillary turning up on TV (Hillary after the last debate) and on the campaign trail. Even then, Hillary can't resist working herself and her wayward husband into her speeches..."we'll once again rise from the ashes of the Bushes"..."tell them Hillary sent you"...and "if you pounded the pavement for me, do it for Barack!" In the end, it's always, ALWAYS about what's good for the Clintons.

Well, Billary...you're not fooling anyone. We know that you both only care about your own political interests....Bill's legacy (or what's left of it)...and positioning for Hillary in an Obama presidency...or in another run of her own.

Shame on you both, Bill and Hillary. When your party needed you, you refused to help...and many of us won't forget how you behaved.

Count on it, Hillary.

We can agree to disagree. I don't agree with your statement. We don't know the internals of the situation. Bill and Hillary Clinton will ALWAYS be important to this Dem. party; especially when you put in contrast the DISASTROUS past 8 years. Hillary made Obama as tough as he is with all the debates, she did him a favor, and us. Don't ever underestimate their importance.

Bill needs to stop with this "McCain is a hero" epithets.

They are both Leos of the same height, with a LOT in common! (personality, mom's both died of cancer, both had spotty father figures and were raised by their grandparents for a time, mother's had multiple marriages, both mom's completed their schooling while raising their children and had good jobs that helped people-Obama's mom helped the impoverished in Indonesia, Clinton's mom was a nurse) While it is hard for two Leo's to share the same stage and spotlight, when they do, it is an awesome and powerful thing!
