CBS 2 Chicago:
Chicago is the Second City in nickname and the third in population, but when it comes to murder, the city has the dubious distinction of being second to no city in America.
As CBS 2's Mike Puccinelli reports, the Chicago Sun-Times pointed out on Friday that Chicago has seen 426 homicides this year through Tuesday, compared with 417 in New York and 302 in Los Angeles.

Big surprise, you get more murders when you tie the hands of your best police officers and stomp out what's left of their morale. Richie's plan to clean up for the Olympic committee has backfired, badly. CPD officers formerly pulled a lot of guns off the street. That hasn't happened since the new supt. came to town, removed or reshuffled every district commander and started breathing down the neck of every officer -- including the ones who do the job. Now even the good ones hide in their cars and wait for calls, because downtown has made it very clear that's what they want.
Don't worry Chicago, Kansas City is catching up. It's our worst year for murders of the decade.
Anybody want to bet how long it'll be before the McFailin' camp tries to use this against Obama?

Well I guess this is the consulation prize for a city that doen't win the most liveable, most affortable, or best in educating its youth contests.
