CNN Enters The World Of Satirical News With D.L. Hughley's Comedy-News Show

At the start of his stand-up set in the 2000 film "The Original Kings of Comedy," D. L. Hughley mocked audience members who had to suffer the rigors of a daily grind. Now he's getting his comeuppance.

For the last week Mr. Hughley, 45, has had to arrive every morning at his office at CNN in Manhattan at the ungodly (for a comedian) hour of 11 a.m. to digest reams of information from newspapers, Web sites, television and talk radio. He has no time to goof off during the 8-to-12-hour days; only the occasional moment to glance at his new profile in the CNN company directory that lists him as an anchor.

This is by far the worst and most demeaning show since Amos and Andy. CNN has lost my respect. This show should be taken off the air and right now!! CNN is trying to influence the elections in a very negative way. Why doesn't CNN just call all African Americans the N word.

i think he needs another episode or two to get comfortable. i wasnt laughing my ass off, but there were some funny parts. i like the hughley at a palin rally bit. i think itll get better.

I was looking forward to it cause I thought it was going to be like TDS or TCR but boy was I wrong. I show totally stinks and it was painfully unfunny. I will not watch it again.

D.L. the person is okay. The show is terrible. Typical CNN behind-the-curve idea. They're soooo last century. Thanks to Wolf Blitzer, Candy Crowley, John King, Drew Griffin and company, the Conservative News Network has become GOP Central.

DL has never been that funny to me. The show was not clever and was clearly bufoonery at it's worst. Take a clue from Dave Chappelle; just because you can - doesn't mean that you should. I am dissapointed in CNN. DL pulled a Sarah Palin.....­.not ready for prime time. Even she is making fun of his coonery.

I watched, but didn't laugh that much.
He needs a lot more practice, he didn't seem that comfortable discussing the topics.

I'll give it another chance, but that's it.

I watched the show Sunday and it wasn't to bad. Those blasting the show really need to understand what the show is actually suppose to be instead of what they thought it was going to be. Two different things. However one needs to remember this is the first show. It's going to take a bit of time before they figure out what works and what doesn't. That's why feedback is so important. Bill Maher's show wasn't as good as it is now in the very beginning and even when he first started he was on normal TV so what he couldn't do and could do were different.

D.L.'s show seems more like a cross between Real Time with Bill Maher's show and The Chris Rock Show that was on HBO. Actually it's closer to Chris Rocks show I think in what they are trying to do. However that was just a half hour while D.L. has an entire hour.

Next weeks show most likely will be different as they retool it. No one ever gets it right on the first show and if they do it's very rare. I don't think CNN will pull the show. It's new for them to put on this type of show and they have to know it will take a while for any show to find it's feet.

are you kidding? this guy couldn't carry a show if his life depended on it. he has the wit of a pet rock. from the extremely lame kings of comedy (ironic) to a failed show on comedy central...­he has about 30 seconds left of his 15 min now.

i give the show about 2 more episodes before CNN cancels it. then again, CNN isn't known for their taste in comedy...
