Palin

Politico's Ben Smith reports on the internal tensions that are roiling the McCain campaign, with many Palin allies voicing their unhappiness at how the campaign has been run. According to Smith, there are now "stirrings of a Palin insurgency." Some of the highlights:

Four Republicans close to Palin said she has decided increasingly to disregard the advice of the former Bush aides tasked to handle her, creating occasionally tense situations as she travels the country with them. Those Palin supporters, inside the campaign and out, said Palin blames her handlers for a botched rollout and a tarnished public image -- even as others in McCain's camp blame the pick of the relatively inexperienced Alaska governor, and her public performance, for McCain's decline.

"She's lost confidence in most of the people on the plane," said a senior Republican who speaks to Palin, referring to her campaign jet. He said Palin had begun to "go rogue" in some of her public pronouncements and decisions.[...]

Anger among Republicans who see Palin as a star and as a potential future leader has boiled over because, they say, they see other senior McCain aides preparing to blame her in the event he is defeated.

"These people are going to try and shred her after the campaign to divert blame from themselves," said a McCain insider, referring to McCain's chief strategist, Steve Schmidt, and to Nicolle Wallace, a former Bush aide who has taken a lead role in Palin's campaign.
[...]

"A number of Governor Palin's staff have not had her best interests at heart and they have not had the campaign's best interests at heart," fumed the McCain insider, noting that Wallace left an executive job at CBS to join the campaign."

Palin's favorability ratings have taken a hit recently, and the Washington Post reported Saturday that its latest poll shows the majority of Americans now have a negative impression of Palin.

Given the fact that the cracks have already appeared, how do you expect the McCain/Palin duo to run the country together, should they - God forbid - win the election?

This is a very dangerous time for the US.
Palin is stirring up the hate from the GOP that may be the final nail in the US coffin.

She is single handedly responsible (even although McCain gave tacit approval for the racist innuendo that surfaced on this campaign. She not a smart woman and she appears to be an unethical one, who will say anything do anything to further her own agenda. For example, the ridiculous hoopla around "spreading the wealth." Democracies collect taxes to pay for things like education, health care, roads, etc. Things that ALL citizens benefit from, regardless of their socio-economic status. However, treating people equally does not necessarily mean treating them the same, so those who earn more, generally speaking pay a larger proportion of their earnings. She and McCain have somehow turned this fundamenal democractic principle into a socialist idea. They clearly have never taken a political science course. Would they rather that the government not collect taxes?? No one is "stealing" money from the rich. The idea is simply nonesense. Palin's argument that wealth should flow from the top down is another indication of her lack of understanding of recent history. Has it worked - look at the economic situation in the US and its affect on the rest of the world!! So does anyone actually think that re-electing a republican again would make a difference, particularly one who supports the present policies. All those "plumber joes" who are suggesting that Obama's going to tax them - tell them not to be concerned, because under the McCain's tax plan, no one will have any money to pay for Joe's services.!!

In my day, Sarah w/her lack of knowledge, depending on her looks & cute winks would have been labeled a Bimbo. The more she opens her mouth the more convincing the label becomes. Nudge,Nudge, wink, wink doesn't trump true knowledge of job description.

It is a national and international disgrace that the United States of America should even CONSIDER Ms. Palin to occupy the position one heartbeat away from the presidency. This is a woman who, as the governor of a state, couldn't have someone fired without her fingerprints all over it. How could she be expacted to perform dealing with a Kim Jung Il or Vladimir Putin? To all of her fans, I ask, "Do you REALLY think she is in a class with Golda Meier, Margaret Thatcher, Indira Ghandi?"

This woman's shrill reaction toward her handler's is typical narcissism. When she says something like, "Katie Coric set me up", she immediately believes it as quickly as it comes from her lips. Just what we need, another prospective president with a character disorder. She, like Bush, never suffers a devastating blow to her ego because of her pathologically well developed ego defenses.

Now what in the world is McCain going to do if he's elected with Palin. If she's not going to listen to him, she will be a ROGUE VP, doing whatever she wants to do. Maybe she WILL try to run the Senate. She's got her own agenda it seems.

She said she would love to see the VP's role and scope of authority expanded. Scary.......
