I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Appearing on Meet the Press, NBC's Chuck Todd noted that early voting is "through the roof," and that turnout is threatening John McCain even in states that lean his way, including Georgia and North Carolina. Turnout among African-Americans might be "somewhere between 95 and 100 percent in some of these states," he noted, upturning some red-leaning southern states. According to Todd, GOP strategists are now asking, "Is South Carolina now in single digits? What's going on in Mississippi?"

Todd also said that Obama has built enough strength in other states that he can likely lose Pennsylvania, Florida, and Ohio and still get to 270 electoral votes.

What these people are not acknowledging is Obama's brilliance in terms of his " nearly 50 state " strategy and how he has executed.
Secondly, it is amazing to hear the comments that the media favored Obama when they carry all and anthing negative about him but not so with John McCain.
And finally, for the lady to claim that his campaign has no long faces and are still confident well then why are there so many stories to the contrary in all forms of the media?

I'm in Baton Rouge and when me and my grandmother went to early vote Friday, the lines were unbelievable. It was actually longer than any time I've ever voted on election day. There were two buses of senior citizens from the nursing home (all black) who INSISTED that they go and vote. They had to set up a seating area for them and have everyone else stand in line outside. It just warmed my heart. Some of them have waited since before blacks were even allowed to vote for this.

This just warms my heart and mind, reading a post such as yours.

Thank you and your GM for taking the time to awaiting the long lines of senior citizens. Let's hope more nursing home seniors insist on the same.

My fingers are crossed that this will happen. It would be the coolest thing in American history if we elected Obama en masse across the board - as a nation. The thought gives me a lump in my throat.

So true. I lived there and they had attitudes like it was still 1953. Tom Delay's gerrymandering has also ruined the prospects for Democrats too. The only thing that'll change it is Republican crossover voters.

texas won't turn blue, but it will definitely be purple. what really matters here is getting Cornyn out of the senate. that's feasible and has a very high probably of happening.

this is ridiculous for the MSM to continue to discuss race. If Obama was a republican,,Democrat would still get the majority of AA votes. I hope people do not buy into this trap of division. If the MSM was paying attention ton the american..they would realize 95 % of american are voting base on their pocketbook not a skin color!

While I do agree with you about people voting on the issue of economy. I would find it almost impossible to believe that there aren't some AA who aren't very excited to be casting a vote for the first AA President. Obviously the AA community has always voted predominately Democrat but I think Obama's race has had to of at least excited some in the AA community to register and vote for the first time, which I think is a great thing!

This is the first time in my life I have been excited about a candidate for President. I am a white 45 year old woman and I don't give a hoot about Obama's race. He is the most inspirational candidate I have ever seen in my lifetime, and I am excited to cast my vote for him. Don't you think that the black community feels the same way about this man? I am sure that they are proud of him because they share a common ancestry, but I think they are inspired to vote for Obama for the same reasons the white voters are, namely his intelligence and his awesome leadership qualities.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

You need to WIN BIG or the numbers will be crooked. It is an unfortunate reality of most elections. Protect DEMOCRACY by voting early to prevent confusion on the last day.

SO FAR, Y'ALL LOOK BEAUTIFUL, Democracy in action.

The more republicans that endorse Obama, the more I think many republican states could move toward Obama. I think it's possible Obama could win Texas and Arizona. I think he should ask the Clintons to go through some of the red states over the next week.

Texas and Arizona? No way. Btw, republicans do not "love" the Clintons. Perhaps, Obama should just stick to his plan.

I read an article in the houston chronicle yesterday - harris county - houston - is polling +9 for Obama. I believe that number, but there's a whole lot of state outside of houston. I'd love to see texas turn blue, but I don't think we'll make it - someday, I remain hopeful. The state and local races are going to be heading more democratic - which is a good thing. We lost the war but may win a battle which is pretty important.

I'm in Arizona, and just looked at a poll in the Phoenix newspaper. Obama has closed the gap form a 15 point deficit in early September, to a 4 point deficit now. Arizona is a possibility.

don't forget that before W took over as governor, we did have a long history of democratic rule with ann richards. people really liked her, republicans included. the real difference here is that our economy is largely based on oil, so people tend to lean republican (not to mention bigotry and racism). people really underestimate how diverse texas really is, especially hispanics who are leaning heavily toward Obama. we may not turn blue, but the numbers will be very very interesting. minorities are early voting in droves here!!!!

Oh really, you haven't heard about the October Anime Surprise?

They're teaching those giant robots how to dance right now (giant robots are never ready unless they know how to dance).

And don't be surprised if you're polling place is blocked off by a Japanese teenager who won't stop mutating into a multi-story biomass, either.
