I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Appearing on Meet the Press, NBC's Chuck Todd noted that early voting is "through the roof," and that turnout is threatening John McCain even in states that lean his way, including Georgia and North Carolina. Turnout among African-Americans might be "somewhere between 95 and 100 percent in some of these states," he noted, upturning some red-leaning southern states. According to Todd, GOP strategists are now asking, "Is South Carolina now in single digits? What's going on in Mississippi?"

Todd also said that Obama has built enough strength in other states that he can likely lose Pennsylvania, Florida, and Ohio and still get to 270 electoral votes.

It's hard to say which group is "putting him over the top". Yes, there's strong AA support for Obama, but that's been true for all Dem canididates. You can easily say it is the Hispanic vote, which is going more than 2-1 for Obama and which Bush won 40% of in his two wins. You can say that it's the youth vote, which is coming out so strongly this year. You can say that it's the working class white vote, which he needs to get in rural Virginia, rural Pennsylvania and states like Iowa and North Dakota.

The strength of Obama is that he's managed to build a broad-based coalition of many parties, which is why he is winning in such disparate population states. Don't give credit to just one group, as that diminishes what many have done, and it diminishes Obama, because he's not a candidate who is appealing to just one group.

Why does it matter. Obama is for us all. As long as we all turn out, african-americans, whites, asians, hispanics, american indians, and any one else. Let's make it a landslide. Go Obama!

I remember the long lines that were shown around the world when South Africans had the chance to vote for Nelson Mandela. I remember thinking, "what would it take for me and my fellow African Americans to stand in line all day to vote?" I have my answer - our country needs us now! I am so proud! And make no mistake -- we are voting because we LOVE our country!

God bless you. I am so proud of you when you stated that "we are doing this because we LOVE our country"

That is what it should be.

Long Live America!!!

I'm proud of all the people who supported Senator O when others thought "no way". I'm proud of the HRC supporters who saw through Palin and said "no way". I'm proud of the millions of African Americans and Latinos who went to polls knowing minority votes will be heavily scrutinized and "no way" will I give up my vote.

This is the change we have been waiting for!

Thaaat's right...I've been shuttling elderly people, 18 yr old high school seniors, and people in the ghetto who don't have a car all week long here in LA...a four time felon has also been shuttling his entire neighborhood to the voting booths, since he himself cannot vote, I just hope he stay out of trouble after the election...Barack Obama, God Bless You for the image you project for the Black community, I've never been so proud of my people!

What a wonderful irony if it turns out that African American voters are what saves our nation from the Republican Party.

Very prophetic. And the status-quo is resisting it by race-baiting and insults. I prefer America where there is harmony, everyone has access to success and race never becomes the yardstick to getting favors or elected.

My favorite Senate candidate in Georgia (Jim Martin) is a White man. We voted him during the primaries over Vernon Jones (black man) because race never factored in our choice. What mattered most was our interests.

Jim Martin will look out for my interests over the rabid Republican hollow chambers in Georgia represented by Saxy Chamblis and the incompetent Sony Pardue.

I am so sick of commentators saying that John McCain could still win because he "came back from the dead" in the primary. Puh-lease. The only reason why John McCain is the nominee is because of the horrendously POOR primary candidates he ran against. It was pathetic!

Yes, but GA apparently purged 50,000 mostly 'minority' voters... and OH is on the radar for the same nefarious and unAmerican manipulation of the 'democratic' process... what are we going to do about that?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cable Headline News...today, Sunday 10/26... a young woman from Boston MA received a letter from the GA Election Office stating she was not a U.S. citizen and therefore ineligible to vote... followed by an interview with the Director of the same agency who made no apologies for late notification/scrutiny of registered voters.... the NAACP and AFCLU are taking a hard look -- but not making enough noise.

I live in Georgia, and I voted early and there were almost all blacks in the polling location. I am black, and I am telling you all Georgia is in play. Almost every black person I know who is old enough to vote has already done so! GA, NC, MS, and SC are all in play people! Do NOT underestimate the black vote because we are coming out in full force!

YES WE CAN!

Shanni - I live in Stone Mountain..what are you doing election day? My wife and I are taking the day off, filling up on gas in both our cars and getting the vote out.

DO IT!!

You know how tight this thing is going to be, and Georgia deserves better representation than it's been getting recently.....

It amazes me when these pundits are kinda counting on the fact that the AA vote has traditionally been a low turn out. What a joke! I really think it will be close to 100%

My dad is in FL and said that they are making a party out of it, several generations all together, voting, having dinner afterwards, taking family pictures. I just love it!!

You nailed it. This is what Barack Obama has done for our country. He has brought people together for the common good. He represents everything positive about us as human beings. I know he will encourage everyone to be their very best selves. I pinch myself everyday making sure this is really happening. Come one November 4th!!!

We're getting out the vote in NC...and not just the Black vote...

We have organized the older (I'm 60) white ladies vote and we're full bore for Obama/Biden...

And we're getting out the moderate Republicans...they are voting Obama...and the cranky old guys who sit at the counter at the local diner...conservatives who are voting Obama...

We voted early so we can canvass and drive voters on election day!

It won't be Red states and Blue states when elect Obama/Biden...it will be red, white and blue American states!
