Senator McCain would've been better off forgetting Al Haig. And letting him stay forgotten.

amen. al "im in charge" haig should be forgotten. another hawk cloaked in mccain's ideals.

Cheney would have definitely told Haig..."NO, AL. I'M in charge here...nothing has changed!"

I think this was not a situation that depicts his level of intellect. I think McCain just made a mistake.

This man is filled with a deep seated hate for all others who don't think as he does,as well as hate for himself,he knows he is a failure as a pilot,as a pow, as senator, failed in his frist marrage, there is no long list of accompolishment,he has just filled a seat as a senator and not much to show for it and now he will always be remebered for picking Palin. This could very well be the closing chapter for him.
His best move now is to bow out and maybe try to save some of his party members as others have said.

Seniors sometimes have those momentary lapses, but they have nothing to do with judgement or reasoning ability. In fact, those lapses are small potatoes compared with more serious matters, like a reduced energy level and a greater likelihood of serious, debilitating illness.

I think someone my age is too old to be president. In times of crisis, a president may have to be on full alert for 24 hours or more. But there is no such thing as an all-nighter when you're 67 years old like me, let alone 72 - or older. By the way, I don't think his choice of Sarah Palin had anything to do with age. His bad judgement in that case reflects a character flaw. The old fighter jock is in love with with his overcooked "maverick" self-image. He thinks he's still a gutsy, free-wheeling kind of guy who can get away with anything - not so bad in a senator, but terrible in a president.

"Maverick"?....more like an old plow horse.

Actually, I'm impressed that John McCain has as much energy as he does. Can you imagine what it takes to run for President? How many plane rides, hotel rooms, speeches, rallies, interviews, press conferences, town hall meeting, etc. would you have to go through?

So he had a "senior moment." Stuff like that happens to me all the time, and I'm a lot younger than he is.

I'm no fan of McCain ---- picking Palin alone disqualifies him from the presidency, in my mind --- but picking on him for a trivial thing like this makes no sense to me.

would you really trust your future and your life in mccain's hands while he's having a "senior moment"? sure that stuff happens to some people, but not to someone whose decisions risks the whole country, if not the world!!!!

The only way McCain can win is if the Rethugs rig the election!

Even al-Qaeda are supporting McCain-- they posted on the protected al-Hasbah website that they want McCain to win because he is "impetuous" and like his "failed predecessor Bush" will continue to fight a pointless and illegal war "until the last American soldier". Scary stuff, google it if you don't believe me. Talk about the kiss of death...

Im from England and we can't believe that some people are considering voting for McBush and his Shopaholic Pitbull. These two clowns are the biggest idiots in the history of American politics. Do you really want to be represented internationally by these two fools???

Vote smart for a change and Vote Obama. Remember the frontpage headline of London's Daily Mirror and others back in 2004 when you all re-elected Bush: HOW CAN 59 MILLION PEOPLE BE SO DUMB???

You are already the laughing stock of the world so please restore some dignity to yourselves and your nation and do the world a favour by electing the best best candidate in history- Obama.

The whole world is behind Obama and the whole world cannot be wrong!!!!

I had the most astonishingly bright Grandmother. Extremely well read. Deep. Smart and a totaly firecracker. She died at 78 and I would sooner see her as president of the United States than this man who is clearly ill and suffering some deep self lothing and worse, thought he was "trained" enough to not get the proper help for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

God, what is wrong with men, especially American men. Dude, becoming president won't make up for the fact that you were a sub-standard pilot, a pathetic soldier and you didn't have daddy's love and respect.

McCain continues to show his lack of leadership. He does not look Presidential, he actually looks petty. Each time I hear him, I get more and more convinced he is not capable of being President, not now, not ever.

Also, I agree with LiberTLover. I think the media should be raising issues about McCain's military record, his record on veteran issues and his efforts to conceal information about POW's left behind after the Viet Nam War. There is a lot that has not been discussed during this Presidential election cycle.

And his medical records, as well as Palin's, don't forget. These 2 expect the total faith and trust of the American people, but are less than forthcoming about the most basic facts about their ability to serve. BOOOOOOOOOO, cannot WAIT UNTIL NOV.4TH!!!

I don't think he should even be a Senator. If I lived in Arizona, I would be thinking hard to replace him at the next election. He needs to retire and go home.

Seriously not a fan of McCain.... but this one is unfair.... he did come up with George Schultz right after he forgot and even apologized to George Schultz on air. I pray he is not our President, but let's not take things out of context as they do for Obama.

McCain is running out of time - he needs to nail everyone of his final performances before the election.

With daily misstatements, I don't see how he can do it in this "You Tube" dominated election year.

The world is moving to fast, McCain thinking is to slow, America deserves a president who is able to think and act quickly to any emergency situation.
