I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Mccain

During a rally in Northern Iowa University this morning, John McCain made a strange remark that only serves to cement the notion that he does not respect Barack Obama:

When I'm elected president We're going to stop spending $700 billion to buy oil from countries that don't like us very much," John McCain said at Northern Iowa University this morning.

"You know, the other night in the debate with Senator Obama, I said his eloquence is admirable, but pay attention to his words. We talk about offshore drilling and he said he would quote, consider, offshore drilling. We talked about nuclear power, well it has to be safe, environment, blah, blah, blah."

While McCain is targeting Obama's eloquence as empty words with his "blah, blah, blah" comment, it's curious why he would use safeguards for nuclear power as the vehicle for this attack. The line makes McCain seem not only callous but also dismissive of a very real concern regarding nuclear power. It recalls the moment during the third presidential debate when McCain used air quotes while discussing a woman's health as a factor in her having an abortion.

'"Health" of the woman' in response to life of the mother...

"Blah, blah, blah" in response to safeguards for nuclear power...

No doubt it's callous and dismissive.

There is still the problem of how to store nuclear waste and its longterm deleterious effects.

I heard this on NPR this morning. As bad as it is as a transcript, it's even worse when he says it. It's a combination of disdain and angry-old-man. It left me with the impression he was slamming the environment almost as much as Obama. Like, "How silly we care about the planet - who cares as long as the energy industry has what it wants." Terrible soundbite. I hope it gets played all over today.

They should run that quote over and over again this week in Nevada where McCain wants to store the nuclear waste.

I would rather have someone consider things first and look at all the options before jumping in. In fact the first rule of a laboratory scientist is to not do anything you know is dangerous. You do not start something without knowing the hazards and taking safety precautions. Between this and Palin making fun of fruit fly research that is leading to understanding of autism i would have to say that they have little under standing of science. What's worse, they are too lazy to even try to get it. They spent all that on her hair and make up and didn't even get a science consultant? !

Exactly! That reminds me of the air quotes" McCain is so "out of touch and so unfit to lead it's embarrassing and he is an embarrassment! We have suffered enough with an embarrassing leader, we need some dignity and respect in the White House again and around the World and McCain doesn't offer that!

Obama'08

Let's get some Grace and Intelligence back in the White House!

Me and you both. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I'm so angry at how the repubs are willing to fool and fake their way through elections and then muddle and stumble their way through office. Barack said it best:

"Republicans are great at running a campaign, but awful at running the country."

He's here in PIttsburgh today and I'm volunteering the event.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOBAMA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OBAMA * 08 * BIDEN

A lifetime of getting a pass from all the people around him. But on the world stage, there is nobody to insulate him from himself and we see the real John McCain.

He was flippant about nuclear safety at the second debate as well:

"But we kept the debate going, and we kept this issue to -- to posing to Americans the danger that climate change opposes.

Now, how -- what's -- what's the best way of fixing it? Nuclear power. Sen. Obama says that it has to be safe or disposable or something like that.

Look, I -- I was on Navy ships that had nuclear power plants. Nuclear power is safe, and it's clean, and it creates hundreds of thousands of jobs."

Quite obviously McCain does not care about keeping the American people safe from Nuclear waste--a very real threat. His only concern is worming his way into the White House!

I can just hear his concession speech now: "I'd like to congratulate Senator Obama, blah blah blah, next President, blah blah blah, wish him well, blah blah blah."

Oh man I can't wait, only one more week and we will never, ever ever have to hear the words "McCain" and "Palin" ever ever again.
