Obama Draws More Than 100,000 At Denver Rally (PHOTOS)

Barack Obama drew a crowd of over 100,000 at a rally in Denver on Sunday, the AP reports:

The Obama campaign released an initial crowd estimate of 75,000 people. That was later upgraded to "well over" 100,00 people, a tally confirmed by a Denver police spokesman.

The setting, on a sparkling day in this battleground state, said perhaps more than Obama did in his actual speech. His campaign is capitalizing on the scope of such rallies to get people to cast votes early, permitted in Colorado and more than two dozen other states.

We are taking our country back. Never in our lifetimes have we seen anything like this. November 4th will be a historic day for this country and I'm planning on being part of it. Anyone in Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana and Illinois should make plans to be at Grant Park in Chicago to take part in what hopes to be a defining monent in American history. When I found out that he was going to be here in Chicago I set aside the whole day to make sure that one day I can say to my children that I saw Barack Obama in person. You should too!

I attended this today. What an event. Everyone I encountered all day was excited to support Obama, not just see him. The crowd was so mellow and fun, even passing hateful, one issue minded protesters. Everyone ignored them and had fun. It was a great day.

My gf and I are from California but we're volunteering in Colorado. We got up at 3:30AM and started waiting at Civic Center Park at about 4:30AM. When we got there, there were maybe 6 other people but by the time the gates opened the line was half a mile long at least.

I remember the abortion protesters you're talking about, maybe 5 of them standing by the gate. The crowd had a lot of fun with then, posing in front of them with Obama signs. It was a good group of people: families with their children, couples, teenagers and college students, older people, a good mix in terms of age and ethnic diversity.

It was a fun day.

When Republicans ask 'what has Sen. Obama ever done?' ... I hope they will look at rallies like this one, and answer that--among other things--he's inspired MILLIONS of Americans to believe in their country again and get involved. Who else has done that? No one in decades.

To see crowds this size excited to hear a politician speak is jaw dropping. No politician in American history has been able to draw crowds this size as consistently as Obama has been able to do. Remember in the primaries, Obama drew 33,000 in PA and still ended up losing to Clinton by a significant amount. Hope that all the people in attendance aren't just gawkers and are actually going to vote for Obama.

Well, if this is 100,000 then, St Louis last Sunday had to be 175,000, judging from the photos' size of the crowds.

You can't see a TON of the people there--many many many were outside the line of the trees, and somebody even wrote that there were thousands past the capitol building, which is farther off than the photo makes it look.

But no matter--this is not a competition--lets hope EVERY rally after this has MORE people than were in Denver. That would make me even more happy than I am today for this election, and for all the people in this country.

Due to a sprained ankle, I wasn't able to attend the rally today, although my husband attended. He reported that the crowd was huge, excited, and all positive.

Imagine 100,000 people all coming together in Denver to support our candidate, Obama, and the hundreds of thousands who weren't there, all supporting him from wherever they were.

Parsing numbers is a fool's errand for those who would deny Obama's enormous popularity. Maybe it stops them from feeling so bad about their losing candidates.

On November 5th, 2008 Americans will take back their country!

Not to quibble, but those aren't aspens. They're a beautiful mix of ash, oak, crabapple, linden, maple, etc. but not aspen. Aspen are mostly a mountain species which are often planted at lower elevations but do not thrive in the plains.
