What's Your Reaction?

Sarah Palin addresses the $150,000 in clothing purchased for her by the Republican National Committee at a rally. She compares the outfits to the lighting at an event, saying it doesn't belong to her and that she will go back to shopping at her "favorite consignment store" once the race is over. She went on to highlight some of her inexpensive accessories. Watch:

John McCain also defended the purchases on "Meet The Press" Sunday morning. He said that a third of the clothing has been returned, and that the rest will be donated to charity.

However, Palin's remarks were apparently not approved by the campaign. The incident is another example of tensions in the ticket that were reported over the weekend, as the vice presidential candidate is starting to go "rogue."

Some aides to Sen. John McCain say they weren't happy that running mate Sarah Palin went off script Sunday and turned attention back to the controversy over her wardrobe.

...

A senior McCain adviser told CNN that those comments "were not the remarks we sent to her plane." Palin did not discuss the wardrobe story at her rally in Kissimmee, Florida, later in the day.

A Palin aide, however, told CNN that the governor clearly felt like she had to say something to defend herself, because "that's really not who she is."

Over the weekend, sources told CNN that long-brewing tensions between Palin and key aides to McCain were on the rise.

Several McCain advisers suggested that they have become increasingly frustrated with what one aide described as Palin "going rogue."

Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Sarah.

Poor Sarah, if she is shopping at Out of the Closet she is supporting an AIDS charity. She must not know that. Someone should enlighten her before she shops there again. In case she runs into a , God forbid, gay person there.

She wears consignment well, and will be thinking more & more about it,

'cause soon she'll be consigning her political future to the cirular file.

Someone who is WORTH $1.3 MILLION does NOT shop at a consignment store. She is SUCH a phony, her nose should be 2000 feet long. I doubt she even KNOWS what it IS. The problem with being a compulsive LIER is remembering which story you told to whom.

Ah, but elsewhere on this site they've pointed out that her fave consignment shop is a private, for profit store that deals in designer labels - like the ones the RNC paid full price for. This woman's got pricey tastes.

Consignment store is the ONLY way to explain that pre-VP campaign pink shopping dress with the blue ribbons. Well, that or Halloween.

Two issues:

First the link to this article says that she will go back to consignment clothes. In the speech she clearly states that she is in fact wearing clothes from her "favorite consignment store in Anchorage."

Second the more the media talks about her clothes the more non-issues this gives the Palin-Hasselbeck team to waste air time with. I defer to Campbell Brown's comments - she is running for the second highest position in the world - I don't know about you but I tend to dress up for interviews. GIVE IT A REST.

Seeing how Palin is becoming a Rogue to the McCain camp it really makes me wonder if the McCain camp intentionally leaked this story to give themselves something to rant about. It seems like a very convenient false flag, now that their staffer in MD was busted in falsifying her assualt - that is worth talking about to expose the f a s c i s t tactics the GOP may be using. With innocent until proven guilty we need to investigate how far up the command chain this idea came from.

You know, for a few moments there Palin actually seemed real---she was authentic. And later, of course, she starts bleating about Obama being a communist. Uff da---she is such a twit. Albeit a sharp-dressed twit.

I do think she needed a new wardrobe but what I don't get is why John and Cindy just didn't cough up $150,000 of their own money. Isn't that like a fraction of what Cindy spends each month on her own clothes? Besides, Palin looks like a Cindy clone, which is pretty creepy when you think about it.

On the other hand, my husband thinks it's great that the GOP frittered away so much on Palin's makeover. They could have spent the money on the actual campaign.

I don't hear Michelle Nobama talking about shopping at thrift stores. Maybe she's too good for that .

Get up to speed. Much has been reported about what Michelle Obama wears, and she does wear affordable clothes from regular stores, not pricey designer outfits.

But nice try though. Next time try to do some basic online searching before posting.

Why would she - she's not the one marketing herself as Mrs. Joe six-pack. She's a Harvard trained lawyer who made an attractive salary before putting her career on hold to campaign for her husband. She doesn't need to shop in a thrift store. She's also not running for executive office. Similarly, no one is crying about Cindy McCain's $300,000 convention outfit - because she markets herself as a rich heiress. Get a clue.

Her voice alone disqualifies her for any job where other people would hear her. No need for aerial hunting, give her 1 minute with a megaphone and all wildlife drops dead on the spot.

"This is what the Republican Party has done to us this year: It has placed within reach of the Oval Office a woman who is a religious fanatic and a proud, boastful ignoramus. Those who despise science and learning are not anti-elitist. They are morally and intellectually slothful people who are secretly envious of the educated and the cultured. And those who prate of spiritual warfare and demons are not just "people of faith" but theocratic bullies. On Nov. 4, anyone who cares for the Constitution has a clear duty to repudiate this wickedness and stupidity."
